This is a project I have been wanting to do for a while now. This particular closet really had no useful purpose and turning it into a gun closet was an obvious choice. The sliding barn door I installed last year completely covers and hides the closet when the door is open. With the closet already having a degree of concealment, it simply needed a makeover, security, and the space would be perfect for a small gun storage closet. Surprisingly, this project was more expensive than I thought it would be, considering how small the closet is. The door and door hardware was easily over half of what I had to spend. Luckily, I managed to save money by using plywood I had on hand for all of the shelving.

    Nice work. I would have went with a steel door and door frame, but an intruder probably wouldn't even know that it's a Gun Vault, but just another Closet.

    I like that setup. We're in the process of building our retirement home and I'm going to do basically the same thing for a walk in closet.

    The key pad is cool. But you are going to want a handle to pull the door open. Especially when your hands are full or your in a hurry.
