ABANDONED - Marble Falls Arkansas

Publicado 2017-08-16
On a road trip through Arkansas we stumbled upon the abandoned theme park of Dog Patch USA and the Marble Falls Ski Resort. It is now currently abandoned or in little use and has the Hub Motorcycle Resort and some other structures there.

The owner and founder of Bass Pro Shops has bought Dogpatch and is planning on renovating the old theme park, as well as putting in a golf course.

The building on the right, where the guy was, is the old Dogpatch warehouse which housed some supplies and fixtures, but mostly merchandise ordered in bulk. There was a ski resort, convention center, hotel, ice skating rink, and an antique auto museum. I worked there for parts of 7 seasons, especially in the gift shop and the warehouse. I was in merchandising.

I was there 3 times as a kid in the 70s. Marble Falls was a snow skiing resort. One building was a restaurant and 1 was an ice skating rink. In a valley within walking distance was the hotel. You walked up 3 flights of wooden outdoor stairs to the lodge. It only had 2 slopes. A bunny hill and an adult slope. And a chair lift. It was great fun for our family coming from Hot Springs. Great memories.

I visit the Hub, on every long distance motorcycle trip, I stayed there last june, traveling from Vero Beach, Florida to The Grand Canyon and beyond, the owners, of the hub, Debbie & Randal have owner it for better the, 14 years. this is a great location for car/truck & motorcycle groups to have events. the rooms are well maintained, all renovated, and the Round building, is a large dining section. ( Oh man """"" the prime rib is to die for ) we visit is with our group. The Freemasons riding club. members travel in from all over the USA. for the long weekend reunion.

Your too paranoid! They weren't wondering what you were doing there, they were wondering why you weren't getting out to drink a beer with em. I'm from just down the road and can assure you that this is about as welcoming an area as you'll find! Y'all come see us, We'll leave the gate open....

Very nice! Thank you. I'll drive up there sometime as I am in that area once in a while.

The falls is located in the bottom of the old park. It's all owned by bud pelsor and is currently restoring the park into a living and working craft village. Was an awesome place when Dogpatch was opened.

I went once to Dogpatch, but my cousins would go all the time. If you keep going up into the Ozark mountains there is a little town that is known for their "Black Apples" and are abundant in the fall. The last time I was there was almost 10 years ago. It seemed like there was someone on every corner selling Pumpkins, Cider, and baskets of those black apples. There was a little cafe that sold the best pies. When they brought you a piece the thing was huge. Looked like half a pie, lol. That area is Gorgeous. Well they don't call us "The Natural State" for nuthin. 🙂

The whole place, Dogpatch park and up here by the Hub and the motel has been bought by Heritage USA who will begin the first phase of renovation immediately.

The Hub was a motorcycle oriented place to stay. It is centrally located for may different great rides in any direction. I stayed there several times and enjoyed it every time. It's not a 4 star place but never claimed to be. The restaurant had great food, you should have stayed for a meal. In 2017 alcohol couldn't be sold in that county so there wasn't a real bar.

This is what silver dollar city will look like if things don’t get opened up. So sad.
