Although I often talk about health and safety in my videos, please make sure you do your own research and take the relevant precautions to ensure that you are protecting your health. • I did not realise that alcohol resin fades after time. You have just saved me a lot of grief. Loved the video
  • @daniel..cooper
Great video again, yes, definitely a shame about the light fastness, like you said, most products in resin will eventually bleach, same as many resins may also yellow with sun. However, each piece is handmade art and needs to be cared for with good aftercare advice the same as a painting, for example, you wouldn't hang a painting in direct sunlight. I say, treat them like a Gizmo, don't get wet, don't feed after midnight and no direct sunlight!šŸ˜‚ You don't want your Gizmo to become a Gremlin! šŸ˜‚. Great advice again. A friendly tip, PiƱata skins more than other alcohol inks as it's a thicker pigment, less is best with that range, and also, thin the white down 50/50 with some Isopropanol for a much lighter effect. Again, great advice Steve šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜ŠšŸ™Œ

The first few minutes I saw this I thought, "Holy cow, that's too much ink and too much swirling for the ink dropping effects, Steve! But I'm interested to see what it gives you." And then I listened and waited. I absolutely love how you are so good at teaching 'this is why I do this and this is how you can change this for different things.' And again and again, resin is about playing and experimenting to find what you like and what you want! That's why it's so addicting and fun! You're awesome!
  • For those curious: the term for the color fading is called light fastness rating! If it is lightfast, no fade. Not lightfast, yes fade.
  • Great video. Beautiful patterns in the resin. Put a reminder in your calendar to go back and check them šŸ˜

Such fun ideas. I appreciate your honesty. As a test during May I used alcohol inks in a few resin pcs. I placed pcs on a window shelf that receives 2-3hrs of sunshine on cloudless days, a few others that receive indirect sunlight. Each and every piece faded, some more than others. Of course jewelry that is worn will fade much less. Since I am creating affordable costume jewelry, platters and coasters I do not expect them to maintain their depth of color forever. For me the easy access to the unique designs is totally worth it. (I tend to avoid pastels. More intense ink colors seem to retain their appeal, in my opinion.)

Thank you so much for this video because I did not know alcohol inks faded (and I was looking at them on Amazon this morning). Thanks to you I will not be wasting money.

  • I give up the idea of ā€‹ā€‹making jewelry with it. Thank you for all this valuable advice. Great video as always.
  • Love this video, but maybe would've liked to have seen one being not stirred just to compare the two together. Can't wait for the next video!!
  • @darians6096

  • I really thought it was gonna come out tacky too! I absolutely love playing with alcohol inks so fun!
  • @Bettina257
