To fix the issue of the tattoos with writing being backwards, just do it in reverse order. Pour the background first, put the tattoos on that, then pour the clear over the top.
  • I really loved that notebook cover, didn't it come out well! You're my favourite resiner Steve. There are lots of resin heads in YouTube land, but none like you Steve. You show the whole process including errors and I really love that! You're the best! Have a fantastic day. God bless you and yours Steve.
  • Agh! My secret is out! Lol. I had been saving some special (to me) temp tattoos in my jewelry box for the last 30 years and not wanting to use them because then they’d be gone. Then last year I started resin art and I thought 💡 Ding ding ding! I can embed them in resin and keep the pretty images forever! Of course I bought some other ones to practice with first, and now I’m obsessed! My favourite thing to do.

I do love how the book cover came out, even the "mistake" just gave it more character. With black & translucent tattoos like the tiger one, you could also try painting on top of areas of the tattoo after it's dry (with actual paint or mixing a bit of gloss medium/clear glue with pigments to make a paint, maybe some glow-in-the-dark powder/paint, or using colored UV resin if you don't want to wait long for dry times) before filling in the background resin color. That way you can customize it even more! Using temporary tattoos is actually pretty common among resin artists. I often see the people who cover tumblers with resin use them, especially the "full sleeve" tattoos since those are generally big enough to cover both sides of a tumbler with a consistent design that isn't identical (when cut approximately in half). Those kind of tattoos might also work well for your book covers so keep an eye out for them.

I love how you looked at the bright side immediately. This one fits better. Good on you.
  • the Lion book cover is flippin amazipants. I have an idea to make a book cover with a guitar in it for my husband. I've never tried resin before but always wanted to. thankyou for sharing your ideas
  • @amydavis4945
I love using temp tattoos in resin. I've been doing that (and using nail art) for quite awhile now. Stickers too! BTW, the one you messed up and the tattoo stuck to the clear film.... you can still use that one. Just put it in the mold with the clear film on and pour your resin carefully to not trap air bubbles under the film.
  • @holditch1
You can also transfer them to clear transparency paper, then trim the paper down to just around the edges of the tattoo and sink it in resin. This gives you a little more control over placement, if you are making something very fiddly. If you do multiple resin layers, you can also give the piece more depth.

I’ve had loads of fun doing these. What out for dark colours if you use colours. I found a thin layer of clear resin stops it wearing off 👍👍👍👍👍. I’m glad you’ve done this. Nice one 👍👍👍
  • @cherachapin3826
I was impressed because I was thinking even if the tattoo dod stay in the resin the side near the silicone would rub off once you removed it. But it didn't! Amazing
  • @pattimilks461
OMG ... I can"t believe you never did this before .... I have been using them forever ....dab i with a damp cloth don''t spray it .... prevents more bubbles and if there is a bubble smooth it carefully with a damp cloth ... just remember they are sticky so the will need a top coat if applied on the top of the resin .... these turned out great ❤️
  • @neodora
WHY did I find this video right after I threw out so many old temporary tattoos 😩😩😩 they'd make amazing resin keychains
  • @MsTJPink
I love using waterslide decals in resin, even went as far as printing my own, it's a bit addictive lol x
  • @sonialoves444

The return of the "decals on the fridge" of the 1960s ! I live it. Thank you very much.
  • I love watching you Steve you show us everything good bad and mistakes. This I feel is why you have such a good following of people, you are the real deal regardless of what the dado’s say. Love the book cover gold backing set the picture off fantastic and I’m sure Alice will love her sign, thank you for showing us
  • @d1vadragon
This video is so tremendously helpful for me, I have a collection of temporary tattoos I've saved from various events and such over the years. They're a really unique souvenir when they have custom ones done for an event and they're small. I will use this technique to turn a lot of my stash into little resin magnets and pins so I can enjoy them permanently!
  • Wow Steve what a wonderful idea. They all turned out beautiful. Absolutely love the notebook cover, it’s gorgeous! Thank you so much for generously sharing your wonderful creations with us! It’s so appreciated. ❌🥰☘️
  • Steve I love the notebook. The gold only makes the lion more true to life. The Marvel coaster and sign, brilliant. Keep up the great creations.
  • I love these. I use small flower and butterfly tattoos on pens that I make. The possibilities really are endless!
