This is a Japanese Grocery Store Supermarket Tour in Tokyo Japan. I’ve always wanted to show you inside of a Japanese supermarket and I finally got permission. So I’m going to be taking you around showing some of my favorite items as well as the prices included. Japan like most countries have grocery stores of all different sizes. In Tokyo they are generally smaller due to cost of real estate but this Japanese supermarket is relatively large for the city. It is a great example of what Japanese super markets have to offer. There are so many different types of Japanese food that it's fun simply going inside and taking a look around.

The cleanest supermarket I’ve ever seen. The display of all the food is impeccable, the premade food makes you want to buy it all, and the prices are reasonable. I love how in Japan they take pride in what they do
  • Paolo, I'd like to take this time to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. Also, a Merry Christmas to everyone in the comments section.

The thought of having all those ready to eat meals for around $5 and they're not deep-fried or full of processed food is just mind-blowing

I love how Japan has healthy prepared food for good value prices. It would be nice to see that commonly in North America

As someone who works for a supermarket here in Australia I can tell you the differences are staggering. First of all everything is very neat and well presented. I can’t see any dumped stock or wrapped from eaten stolen products. Everything is faced to perfection. It’s like I died and went to supermarket heaven 🤣

i love these episodes that are about very normal every day things in Japan. supermarkets are one of my favorite things to go look at whenever i visit another country, it's always so interesting to see all the different products.
  • From 1994 (when I visited Japan on a homestay high school program) to 2024, the availability of bento, sushi, yakitori and sozai have become huge in supermarkets. The convenience is amazing.

As someone who was a Deli and Seafood clerk, this supermarket blows the one I worked out right outta the water. The prices are reasonable, it's super clean, and you get more than what you paid in high quality. Absolutely amazing!!

An entire section just for Oden! 😭What great respect for the best! "I am Oden and I was born to boil." -Kozuki Oden

I'm not sure if they do it anymore, but when I lived in Japan in 2007, if I went to the supermarket and bought any kind of cold or frozen food, they would put a bit of dry ice in a bag and put that in my groceries to keep the cold items cold until I got home. As a 19 year old Australian kid, that level of customer service blew my mind!

I think that’s the nicest supermarket I’ve ever seen !!! It’s so well-lit and clean and has such a welcoming feeling !!!

The thing i am most grateful for as a foreigner living mid term in japan is the wagyu in the supermarkets. Literally everywhere in the world that stuff is crazy expensive and for a good reason. Here you can get a steak for 10 bucks.

If Paolo had his own Netflix series, it would be insane 🔥

I lived in Ryogoku for 14 years and I can confirm that this supermarket is exactly like every supermarket I ever saw in central Tokyo.
