I still can't believe we haven't had a land, sea, or sky splatfest.

Imagine renting an entire beach to yourself and then getting sucked out into the sea by a riptide

even Gem has started fast forwarding the intro

palace still feels weird to me. it gives me the impression of an actual place of royalty that would still have restrictions and empty space i wouldnt know what to do in. i think a 5-star hotel wouldve been a stronger competitor
  • @truffle_cake
I love how palace seems so random yet is one of the more practical options

in a single year in the United States, 43,000 people were injured by toilets while only 13 were wounded by sharks. Sharks are not an issue.
  • Empty beaches are not that different from semi crowded If you had to pay for it(same amount as a palace), you got scammed for sure

As someone who’s been to several small theme parks on days when nobody else is around, being able to guarantee that experience at a much bigger place is way more appealing than the other two. I also actually once had a small renovated castle to myself (I don’t remember why, I think a friend of a friend owned it), we had a bit of fun with Nerf guns but it got dull pretty quickly once the spiral staircase meta was discovered
  • I grew up in amusement parks, so that's still pretty ideal, though you've convinced me that the palace is a good runner up. Also worth noting: many amusement parks include water parks, so fun in the water could be available at all 3 options.

the theme park being empty also kinda satisfies my urban exploration urges without actually having to go to an abandoned and possibly hazardous location. I also want to assume that all the employees/staff/performers are payed exactly the same or perhaps more than usual for the day. and of course that they have proper accommodations for the fact that they'll be sitting around doing nothing for most of the day.

Having been to Water Country when it's practically empty multiple times (they shut down any time there is a thunderstorm and most people leave rather than wait the storm out in their car) I will definitely be picking amusement park. Being able to go on your favorite ride multiple times in a row with no wait is amazing.

If we’re including massively overbuilt private mansions in the palace category, I will note that Richie Rich’s place has a built-in theme park.

theme park for SURE. palace is nice but only for living in, not really just one day. having a nice bed or good food is nice, but those are long-term concerns. they are not, by themselves, entertaining experiences for one day. and "entertain friends" also feels less likely to be well-planned when its a single day. beach you can just... go to, without cost. there's not really any novelty, for me, in something thats so readily available by any coast. theme parks have both fun outside and inside, restaurants and entertainment from dawn to dusk, as well as NO LINES. and its also colder in my country than it is for some places, so i'm not worried about heat stroke. i think its much better for this to be perceived as a "any time" question than a "at the hottest point of summer" question to get more earnest results about what people would "objectively" spend a day on, most days of their lives. if you ONLY think about "at a time where its so hot you might get heat stroke", thats obviously going to bias the question in one direction. but to combat that, lets say the theme park also has water slides and pools, which some do. also, for most people, its must easier to find a beach than a theme park. i live in a country where we dont have disney, we dont have the big, luxurious theme parks and i've wanted to go my entire life. that's also going to be true for most people, most do not live close to florida or california.

I can already see theme park being the most popular team. My answer is beach. I haven't enjoyed theme parks since I was 12, and there isn't much to do in a palace for one day that entices me. Out of the three options, a day at the beach seems like the most realistic thing I'd willingly do 😅
