We want to share our passion for efficient, sustainable homesteading that brings the family together. On our homestead we do chemical-free gardening, grass-fed milk and beef, pastured eggs and broiler chickens, and free range children :) We love to go on adventures as a family, so if we're not workin on the farm, we're probably hiking or out getting ice cream. We're all into DIY, and being inventive and creative. We believe in homesteading that's sustainable, not just sustainable homesteading. In other words, we want to show you that homesteading doesn't have to wear you out to the point that you give it up. We've seen it happen, and almost came to that point ourselves. So go ahead and take a whack at that subscribe button if you'd like to join us on this crazy ride. Get ready to learn and be inspired!

everyone makes fun of me for walking barefoot in my garden, I have to explain every time that dirt doesn't hurt and that grounding is a real thing. Seeing I'm not the only one that does that is awsome!

We found your channel about a week ago and have been binge watching your videos. In three weeks, my wife and I and our seven kids will be closing on our first home on 10 acres! It has been our dream to have our own homestead and watching your videos over the last week has gotten us all so excited and inspired to start this new chapter.
  • @5GreenAcres
Cody, I don't know your mom but when I see you using the cultivator thingy I even think of your mom now!!!!
  • @bungikevin3917
I planted wildflowers and saved the seed pods in the fall. It made a five gallon bucket full to throw everywhere I want to and help the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds!
  • @TwoDovesBees
We really enjoy your videos… When we get wonky or extra comb from the bees, I often cut it off and then use rubber bands to “band@ it into an empty frame… then put that into the hive and the bees will continue to build the comb and they will attach it to the frame. Good job!

Your gardening videos are always my favorite, so much fun seeing everything getting started. Already can't wait to see the harvest and preserving videos. I only have a very small garden and struggling to grow much this year because of slugs and snails but I'm still having fun. Lots of love from the Netherlands ❤
  • Is there a detail beekeeping video, where to get the house, suit, smoker, what to look for, does and don'ts?
  • @MsOneQT
Pausing to just to say how much I love your family and channel!! I feel like a distant cousin checkin' with the family, lol! I remember watching one of your videos where you shared your aspiration for cultivating honey bees (eh hem Mead, lol)... and in THIS video, you've done it!!! I love that! I know Michelle is on her herbalism journey; same as me! I turn to your channel instead of TV when I need a quick edu-taintment break. Break is over and time to go back outside with my Neem Oil spray per one of Michelle's recommendations! First time gardener and I'm over here applying everything I'm learning and surprising myself with harvests!!!

Second the suggestion of cosmos for pollinators for that lovely, lovely garden of yours. It is such a pleasure to watch your channel.
  • @Lisa-wp1ff
I wish i could walk outside without shoes. To me it feels like i am walking on LEGOS ! Your garden looks great. You both do a great job
  • I love how you guys both can work together and tell your story, for your videos, have you considered planting some pole beans around each corn plant when their about 1 month old then plant pumpkin or zucchini plants, to create a 3 sisters bed. Loving your channel.
  • @raigeyraigs
Can you guys do a super in depth strawberry video? How to plant, keep them from spreading, prune etc? I’m really wanting to plant. A good row of strawberries 🍓
  • Check with your state’s conservation dept or organizations that will assist on pollinator habitats. There are cost-share programs and true practices for establishing native wildflowers. Be sure they’re native!
  • "It'll be fine. It'll be totally fine..." Husbands know what that means. I shall pray for you, Cody. :)
  • Great looking garden and I love the way you all work together. I'm looking forward to seeing the popcorn plants as I have never grown that myself. Take care and thanks for sharing.
  • This fall (late September-November) plant some garlic cloves and watch them take off, even during the winter! I worked at a nursery and they sold seed garlic and they started selling it in September. They call it a cold season crop. Plant in the fall harvest around the 4th of July ❤️
  • @tomreppert1722
Its not just the Walmart wildflower packets that are low on seeds! I planted packs feom a few sources this year and they are all the same way! An ounce of seeds just isnt much.
  • Have you thought of planting a row of fennel plants & put the squash seeds near them? I have tried to to deter squash bugs.
  • You need to keep a few of the big tall Asparagus. It helps them the next year.
  • I know you guys suggest only taking on a couple new things at a time but....i dont have the patience for that so it really made me chuckle when you said you were adding dry beans and popcorn so dent corn would maybe be a next year thing meanwhile this is my first time growing corn at all and im doing 5 different varieties 😂 im trying 3 kinds of sweet corn at my moms house (since they are all sweet i dont care too much if they cross) and glass gem and popcorn at my house. I have so many new things im trying to grow this year. Its my first time growing peas and i tried 3 different varieties of those as well. 😂 so far everything is doing well considering how much i have growing. I have a bunch of squash and melons that didnt sprout i dug the seeds up and some kind of larvae ate them up as soon as they cracked open to send out a root so i will be restarting those asap but thats been my only issue so far.
