We want to share our passion for efficient, sustainable homesteading that brings the family together. On our homestead we do chemical-free gardening, grass-fed milk and beef, pastured eggs and broiler chickens, and free range children :) We love to go on adventures as a family, so if we're not workin on the farm, we're probably hiking or out getting ice cream. We're all into DIY, and being inventive and creative. We believe in homesteading that's sustainable, not just sustainable homesteading. In other words, we want to show you that homesteading doesn't have to wear you out to the point that you give it up. We've seen it happen, and almost came to that point ourselves. So go ahead and take a whack at that subscribe button if you'd like to join us on this crazy ride. Get ready to learn and be inspired!

Power couple indeed. If all families were like yours, the world would be a better place. Your tortillas look amazing.
  • I think it's great that you are teaching your children where their food comes from and good work effort. Most kids don't know about these things. They just know computers and cell phones. Not saying that's a bad thing either. Just your children will know how to take care of themselves.

Yay my favourite part of the week! You guys bring me so much calm, living vicariously through you šŸ„°
  • Every time I watch one of your videos I immediately have the urge to search for land. I know you donā€™t take what you have for granted but I just wanted to encourage you that even on hard hard days your little slice of land truly is paradise. With five kids in an apartment, we are so anxious to get them ā€œout on pasture.ā€ But we know itā€™s all in the Lordā€™s timing.

Sleep training is the bomb. People need to chill. Great moms do all different sorts of things. Teaching your kid to fall asleep by themselves is just awesome for the whole family!!

Beautiful property! I taught my kids to go to bed at 8 too. It saves a lot of hassle when they are in a routine. They know what is coming next....just like all my animals. And we feed our dogs grain free for years now and add raw meat.

Literally favorite family to watch! They seem so kind and grounded, non judgemental. I cannot tell you how much I've learned from watching their videos! Thank you ā¤ā¤

Love to see the care in choosing a species appropriate, good quality food for your dog šŸ˜Š All family members deserve fresh, healthy food!

Itā€™s gonna be so much better for your wellbeing having the office. I think itā€™s wonderful how mindful you both are about your wellbeing.
  • Veterinary Technician. I donā€™t know much about Sundays dog food BUTā€¦ I would never recommend a grain free dog food to a client. The problem with grain free is this usually means they replace the grain with legumes. This has been shown to block the absorption of taurine. Taurine is an essential nutrient in a dogā€™s diet. Lack of taurine can lead to heart failure, even in young dogs. Please do your research on grain free diets in dogs before choosing to feed grain free food!!! With that said I love your channel, just want to make sure all those animals stay happy and healthyā¤
  • You are absolutely my favorite family! You all are so inspiring and I admire your teamwork and commitment. Thank you for sharing ā¤
  • I donā€™t have a tv, I never bother with YouTube or social media but after finding you I am obsessed with your weekly video. Thanks so much for sharing your lives, you are awesome humans raising more awesome humans.

The best way to protect your chickens from hawks is to get a livestock guardian dog. Our chickens and geese free range over large pastures and we donā€™t lose any due to our Anatolian Shepherd who we raised with chicks when she was a puppy so she views them and our sheep as her pack. Our turkeys donā€™t believe in fences, they fly over and out every day. But weā€™ve never lost one to predators because our dogā€™s scent and ferocious bark is enough to keep coyotes and foxes away in the areas outside our fence. And we live next to a nature preserve, so there are many predators in our area
  • Love you guys.... On the tortilla conversation- I'm from Austin, Tx and just wanted to mention that the most common method and most traditional way to make flour tortillas is using shortening or lard, traditionally from Mexico. (though some cultures would disagree with the origin of "tortillas") Most Texans and Mexican Americans don't think twice about buying tortillas with shortening or lard. I totally get that is on trend to use other sources of fat and even gluten free tortillas and if that's what you want to do then great. You have to make the choice that is best for your family but I wanted to explain why most Texans and Mexican American's and well beyond, choose tortilla's or make tortillas using shortening or lard. Lard or shortening gives the flour tortilla the lightest texture and best flavor. Every culture has their own version of a flour flat bread and most of the time the fat used depended upon those cultures, either for religious reasons or availability. Animal fat was the most common fat available for centuries. They didn't have all the options available today. Anyway, I do strive to use the most healthy version of fats in my cooking but their are some things, where lard or shortening works the best. Tortilla and masa for Tamales for me, there is no compromise. Thanks

I appreciate that y'all put in the effort to document and share your life with us! I love seeing your homesteading journey. You guys are so inspiring! I also wanted to share that I also make tortillas at home and have invested in a manual cast iron tortilla press. It is so worth the purchase if you'd like to make tortillas regularly - instead of rolling it out with a rolling pin, simply plop the dough on the press, pull the lever down, and in like 1 second you have a flat, round (raw) tortilla. It's a time saver for sure.

In Australia we dry our washing on a clothesline... there is nothing better than hopping into a freshly made bed that smell like sunshine. I am surprised that homesteaders still usually use dryers... sunshine is free! šŸ˜
  • So nice to come home after a day stuck inside at work and watch you and your family, the beautiful land, animals and growing things on your property. Aaahhh...
