Carlingford still holds its medieval design visible by the narrow lanes and small streets. Tholsel Street is where the last of the medieval walled town's gates can still be seen, called The Tholsel. On Tholsel Street there is a 16th-century Town House known as the Carlingford Mint.

    Great memories when we were about 10 we would play in the castle climb to the top and walk along the crumbling walls also gathered winkies and mussels before going to school and sell them in omeath . Hard but good times . At that time in the 50 there would only be about a dozen tourist and omeath would be packed . Brian McManus
