Undocumented Cemetery Discovered! 1 Mile Down Railroad Tracks! Moore Family Cemetery

Published 2024-08-07
Join me on this fascinating journey as I walk over a mile down a set of railroad tracks to locate a cemetery I was told about. This previously unrecorded cemetery does not appear on any known surveys, making it a hidden gem in our historical explorations.

After a mile-long trek up the tracks, I finally locate the Moore Family Cemetery. In this video, I document all the gravestones found there, providing a glimpse into the lives of those buried in this forgotten resting place.

Known burials at the Moore Family Cemetery:

Belle Moore
19 Jan 1872 – 5 May 1914

John Lee Moore
2 Oct 1873 – 1 Mar 1914

T W Moore
19 Nov 1868 – 9 May 1907

Thelma Moore
unknown – 24 Dec 1911

W R Moore
9 Jun 1825 – 26 Oct 1875

Mrs. W R Moore

No doubt there are many small family cemeteries hidden in rural areas throughout Georgia. It is very commendable that you and others are attempting to locate them and preserve them. While no one may visit these graves anymore, God knows where each one of His sleeping (dead) children lie.

How amazing! The Moore family must have been well-to-do since these graves are very substantial.

This is a beautiful family cemetery. The stones are still holding their glory. It really isn't overgrown or anything. It almost looks as though it has a groundskeeper eventhough, it doesn't. Those were expensive stones too. The Moore family resting peacefully. 🙏

How awesome! Those headstones were in pretty good shape, too. A big thank you to Dennis for letting you know about it. I hope Cecil can document it and get it on Find A Grave. Also, thank you for helping that little turtle get off the tracks! ❤
