Super Mario RPG reviewed by Tom Marks on Nintendo Switch.

This wonderfully faithful remake makes it easy for anyone who missed it in the SNES era to see why it's considered a classic. It’s unabashedly odd, and it’s also ultra-satisfying to time your attacks just right. Super Mario RPG already held up pretty well if you didn’t mind a bit of dust on its different systems, but now there’s no excuse not to see why Mario’s most unexpected adventure is still so beloved.

Mario has been killing it this year. Two new games, both of which are great, three DLC updates to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a blockbuster film.

Not really feeling the criticism that the original art style is lost. This is probably the best example of 2d sprites becoming 3d models without losing their distinct style.

imagine a chrono trigger like this.

Haven't played this game since the SNES and couldn't be more excited to dive back in with the remake

Already pre-ordered a looking forward to it arriving. EarthBound and Crono Trigger need this treatment now.

The original was a 10 for me. This one will definitely be a 10 for me also

Best part of this game is that we now have a much clearer look at all the character models. The SNES could only show so much that any further could only be shown in the manual or art book

Nintendo is holding the line this year. Taking no prisoners and all with super outdated hardware. Insane.

27 years huh…. Man long time. My oldest is 26 years old and I’ve been playing this game for that long.

Hopefully they make a well deserved Mario RPG 2.

This year has such a been a massive success for the Super Mario franchise and Nintendo themselves!

Squaresoft were unstoppable in the 90s. Imagine all of their SNES games remade like this.

The graphics complaint makes little sense to me. The original game’s sprites were all digitized 3D rendered models. The Switch can run those renders in real time now. This remake is more of a HD remaster with real time 3D models based off the original games rendered sprites.

Nostalgia at an all time high with this remake! Glad they kept it original but updated cut scenes. Well done Nintendo

Played the game back in 1996 and can't wait to play this again in 2023.
