Resident Evil Gaiden is a unique entry in the Resident Evil series developed by M4 Limited and published by Capcom. Released in 2001 for the Game Boy Color, it diverges from the traditional survival horror gameplay of its predecessors by incorporating elements of role-playing games and a more action-oriented style.

Set aboard a luxury cruise ship named the "Starlight," the game follows series protagonist Barry Burton as he investigates a viral outbreak caused by a bioweapon experiment gone wrong. Players control Barry and interact with other characters, including Leon S. Kennedy, while navigating the ship's various areas.
Gameplay involves exploration, puzzle-solving, and turn-based combat encounters with enemies using a system called "Zapping" where players alternate between characters. The combat utilizes a grid-based system where players aim and shoot at enemies using limited ammunition.

Despite its departure from the main series' gameplay mechanics and limitations due to hardware constraints, Resident Evil Gaiden received mixed reviews from critics and fans. Some praised its attempt to bring the Resident Evil experience to a handheld platform, while others criticized its clunky controls and lack of true survival horror elements.

Looks like an interesting game. I'd certainly try it out but I don't know how long it would hold my attention. I do remember in the late 90s & early 2000s most companies were willing to play with the formula for their top games. Some worked, some didn't. I'd say this could be pretty cool just seeing you use the mechanics. Thanks for the video, love seeing lesser known or forgotten games.
