Pruning is an essential part of mango tree care and maintenance, even for the youngest trees still in pots. While the idea of pruning a mango tree can be intimidating to many, it's simple once you understand the basics.

In this video, Chris introduces pruning and answers some common questions about the subject including what pruning is and why we do it. Then she demonstrates some of the basic concepts of pruning with some small potted mango trees. The concepts can be applied to mango trees of any size.

Great video. Camera closeups help this novice grower a lot. I recently took over my father's property, and I am using your instructional videos to maintain 4 trees. I now have 8 new mango trees in pots that are about a foot tall. Thnx again for the time & effort you put into these videos.
  • Loved the video. New Mango grower here with 3 small trees that i will be planting soon. Your video explained very clearly on how to prune the young trees and different issues to look for when inspecting the trees for pruning. Thank you for this great video.

  • You have got a lot of knowledge on mango trees. I have learned a lot from watching your Channel. I live on an Island Called Pohnpei which on the pacific side near the equator and our mango trees grow massive. I am talking over 100'. We have some great tasting mango but very hard to pick since they are so tall. The only way to pick them is to climb. It was easy for me when i was younger but now I am not able to do it so easily and I know it's going to get harder as the years go by. I am going to plant and graft some of the best once that I know of and try to train the trees young and see if I can get them to bear while they are still short. I have seen similar Mango here like some of the ones you have shown on your channel but not sure if they are the same. We have our own name for our Mango here but I have no Idea what they are in English. Some are great tasting when they are still green but not very sweat when they are ripe and some are very bitter when they are green but very very sweat when they are ripe. Well I just wanted to thank you for all the great and free knowledge. Thanks
