For everything she's done on and off the court and the millions of lives she's touched, Alyssa Valdez may seem like a supernatural being. But, like everyone else, she is human and will be the first one to admit it. She's been through a lot of hardships in life but through hard-work, sacrifice and prayer, was able to rise above all obstacles and spread love to everyone around her. On Episode 13 of Volleyball DNA, Alyssa sits down with Denden and Anton to share the stories closest to her heart in a way she's never done before.

Alyssa is the undeniable face of Ph volleyball. I personally saw her and Den here in Doha. There is something in Alysaa that makes people drawn to her. A living legend indeed..

Back in 2014, I accidentally picked that channel airing that Game 1 of the Season 76 Finals. Unaware at all of the obstacles that the Ateneo team overcame just to get to that finals and neither rooting for either team, I continued to watch it just to kill time. It was Galang and Valdez who first caught my attention for obvious reasons. But as the match progressed, I was drawn to Valdez because of her happy disposition, composure, cool attitude and demeanor. That’s how I started rooting for Ateneo. Over the years, I’ve watched videos of ALE’s matches particularly where Alyssa was still playing and discovered the brilliance of Denden, Jia and Ella. In my opinion, and I know a lot of people share this, the presence of Denden and Ella, spelled the difference in winning a championship title. When I heard how articulate Denden and Jia talked during interviews, that sealed the deal for me. I became a fan of ALE’s legendary trinity (Lazaro, Morado and Valdez). I can’t pick one without the other two. I followed PSL when Lazaro played for Petron, and PVL, when Valdez and Morado for Creamline. And that SEA Games, I never missed any of their matches, even the men’s... Hmmm...Yoda senses in them much passion, dedication, determination, strength, patriotism, compassion and humility. Kidding aside, these three are admirable and inspiring as former student-athletes, as professional athletes and as human beings... TBH, at first I didn’t wanna watch this interview because I reached that stage of getting tired of watching Valdez being interviewed. Don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather watch her play...Hands down to Denden and Anton...this was a very pleasant surprise. Not a dull moment again and inspiring... Now, that I’ve heard the respective stories of Jia and Alyssa, I wanna hear Denden’s story too to complete the legendary trinity of ALE...(P.S. I read that “legendary trinity” term from the comments of one the numerous video clips of the lady eagles)

I'm also crying that time when Alyssa's saying goodbye to everyone. It was my first time crying because of my idol. There's a lot of bashing, but still this girl is so down to earth. That's what I really love about her.
