You missed the most crucial step of making a smash burger. Smashing the burger.

I work at a burger place where smash burgers is our specialty. Our balls of meat we put on the grill are way smaller than that and we smash them super thin. People love them.

I tried this sauce and it was SO good! Thanks for this!!

Smashing your burger doesn’t dry out the meat unless you overcook the burger. The reason why smash burgers are so good is because you’re caramelizing more of the fat which brings out a nice flavor.

For smash burgers you want them as thin as possible. The sauce you add will bring the moisture.

Those look like regular sized burgers. But they do look great!
  • I miss doing this 🤤 I had an old spatula like that, heavy duty that I loved for making smash burgers all the time; the handle was missing, but I kept it anyway just for smash burger-making, cheesesteak chopping and eggs ❤🍳

Pretty solid smash burger. Much better than 90% of folks on here. A couple things I would recommend though. Dice your onion, throw a little pile in the pan, lay the ground beef ball on top, and smash it into the onions. Second would be to hit it with a little salt, pepper, and garlic once you smash it. Then hit it again with the seasoning when you flip it. My normal spg blend is 30 grams of salt, 30g of pepper, and 30g of garlic powder (not garlic salt). That mix should be enough to fill up an old spice container. P.s. you're awesome. Keep it up! 😊

Love it! Just a couple things I would change. 1: Season that meat very well. 2: Smash way harder. The thinner the beef, the crispier the bite. You don't have to worry about it drying out if it is fairly fatty ground beef especially since it cooks so fast. Overall looks very good!
