Bulgarian rose oil is the most valuable rose oil on the market. Buyers are willing to pay $15,000 for a single kilogram. But to make the highest-quality Bulgarian rose oil, producers must spend the year cultivating fields that will only bloom for a few weeks. The petals are distilled the same hour they're harvested, costing producers $8,000 a kilo for labor alone.

Why Louis Vuitton And Tom Ford Spend Up To $15,000 For One Kilo Of Bulgarian Rose Oil | So Expensive

  • My family owns inherited land in the valley of roses, when i was little - around 10-12 , i was also involved in rose picking. Man, this was the toughest, hardest thing i ever did. You get up at 5 in the morning, because then the concentration of oils is much more, coldness, thorns all over you, not just your hands, sticky flowers, insects and so much more....in the end, after 1 week of rose picking, you pick a whole truck of roses and this equals to 20-40 ml of rose oil, I was devasted when i found out my week worth of work was equal to 1 tiny sized bottle. But now that i remember this time - 20 years in the past, i hold my tears of sorrow for my family and friends which are no longer with me, and i used to hang out with them doing this job.

This reminds me of my sister and I gathering up a bunch of flowers, smashing them with rocks, and putting them in water. We were GOING places. Then my mom yelled it was time for dinner, and we sold the business to nature.

$15000 for one kilo? Still cheaper than printer ink.

That dude smelling the flower and giving the side eye is killing me 😂

In Bulgaria, people make everything from roses at home. Bulgarians even eat them - Bulgarian rose jam is simply amazing.

If you live in the USA one of my favorite Bulgarian rose companies is Alteya Organics. In my opinion they have the best Rose face wash. They also have amazing rose water toner. All super affordable too.

So much innovation! It just goes to show that even poor soils in cold climates and high elevations can produce high quality, luxury products better than anywhere else in the world. Opportunity is in the mind; the world and other circumstances are not the limit. Finding the right product is always possible.

One of the most calming narrators I’ve heard. Plus the way the video was created was top notch and serene like! Need I mention how informative it was too? 10/10

If I'm not mistaking they struggle to find workers, because in Bulgaria the labor is very cheap and some are no longer willing for work for so little.

I've had the privilage of being able to buy organic bulgarian rose oil quite a few times. The scene it amazing to say the least. The rose water is pretty good as well, especially in drinks.
  • "tremendous difference" "hopefully, because that's what we tell everybody" 🤣🤣🤣

I’m surprised you guys haven’t done Qiviut yet. It’s the finest and most expensive fiber. This was still a good episode, I don’t have a clue why I enjoy watching these so expensive episodes but I’ve seen literally every single one.
  • @goldslinger
It only takes a drop of rose oil or about a dimes worth per 6 oz bottle of perfume that sells for $75 or much higher. It’s actually pretty cheap. Celebrities like starting a cologne or perfume line because the profits are ridiculously high. Easy money.

Truly is a remarkable material. Along with real oud, certain jasmines, saffron and indian sandalwood, they can be some of the most expensive perfume materials on earth. Ensuring their stable, sustainable cultivation, harvest and quality control is a priority in the industry, and will likely require considerable innovation in the field in the face of ongoing climate instability, as well as equitable long-term partnerships between growers and buyers. Rather than placing an emphasis on profit, the future lies in how we interact with each other and our planet on the most fundamental levels in order to preserve such magnificent materials that ultimately cannot be replaced or easily imitated.

Bulgaria is the only country in the world that in its national reserves in the special military basements besides silver gold & different currencies keeps also wine & 2 tones of rose oil!
  • My friend visited Bulgaria few weeks ago. These roses are everywhere ❤ Luv it 💎

Should have done this as a career. I use to make perfumes all the time from flowers in my moms garden
