Holy mother of god! I wasn't ready for this bombshell of a news from tonight's Marvel Comic-Con Hall H. Robert Downey Jr is officially returning to the MCU and will play Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars!

    You know what? We could see the “incident” in F4. If I recall correctly, Reed tries to stop Victor from using his machine, and Victor ends up blaming him for that as well.

    We can't blame RDJ for accepting this rule, and say its only for Money; playing Dr.Doom ( one of the best villains in Comic book history and most complicated carachter) is attractive to any actor ... Imagine playing Iron-man and Dr.Doom !!! and be the best for both characters !! This is a legacy any actors dream of.

    I would definitely love to see that take where Victor enters the sacred timeline realizing a beloved hero that looks exactly like him died and takes full advantage of it to rise to the top. Plus like you said, watching Peter and all the other characters react to that would be great

    The casting of RDJ as Dr Doom is fantastic news. It’s a great way to sell the next set of avengers movies to the wider audience due to Downey’s bonafide star power. Feige said that Downey would never return as Iron Man and that they are preserving his death. They will never tarnish his death by bringing him back. However Fiege never said RDJ couldn’t return by playing another character and therein lies the ingenuity in this casting decision. He’s a great actor and I’m certain this is going to be completely unrelated/disconnected from iron man. He is essentially playing a new role and honestly it fits. Doom needs to make a grand entrance into the MCU and with Downey behind the mask, he’ll do just that.
