Tropical Storm Debby Moves Over Winston-Salem and Greensboro as a Depression, sunshine returning Friday: Tropical Storm Debby caused two deaths in the Piedmont Triad. A few tornado warnings were issued early Friday evening in the Piedmont Triad for Caswell and Rockingham Counties as Debby’s tropical storm bands whipped over the Northern Piedmont and caused heavy rainstorms to rotate. Flash flooding, river flooding, and downed trees were reported from Burlington to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Debby became Tropical Depression Debby early Thursday evening and began to exit North Carolina early Friday. The risk for flooding, remains through Saturday along the Haw, Dan, and Yadkin Rivers. The National Weather Service in Raleigh and the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Virginia will be updating flood alerts.
