Detroit Police scrutinizing sergeant that racked up 93 complaints, 12 lawsuits

Published 2021-10-18
On the force for 25 years, Zeolla was promoted just last year to sergeant, which may come as a surprise when you learn that no officer on the force today has received more complaints from citizens than him: 93 and counting.

We have investigated ourselves and have come to the conclusion we did nothing wrong.
  • Scrutinizing, they should have been fired him. This is the problem with the police department and police unions.
  • Man, as a security guard, if I trigger one lawsuit, I’m done and most likely liable. Why are the standards lower for actual police officers?

Thank you sir for putting your story out, this crap is going on too many times ,all over the country.

This guy should not be working anywhere that he deals with the public
  • @theturkish180
Sadly, he's considered an ideal officer The only thing surprising is he's not the chief FTP
  • This is insane!! People need to speak and demand action before the unspeakable happens to them or their love ones.
  • This is the epitome of the disconnect between law enforcement & civilians: Sure, we file complaints in an effort to get accountability for bad policing, but it's the police that investigate those complaints, and so there's no accountability to be had so long as that's how investigations are done. These situations are precisely why we need 3rd party/civilian, independent oversight of how complaints are investigated and handled.
  • Just imagine how many complaints the police chief refused to take until he was forced to take them. These cops are criminals.
  • @tongueprowler
End qualifies immunity and make cops carry their own liability insurance just like every other profession

This outrageous behavior continues, and it makes me SO angry. How many more years do citizens have to tolerate this abuse? Just think of all the people he abused that DIDN'T file complaints for fear of retaliation. At least one officer did the right thing, by coming forward and telling the truth, but who knows what has happened to him for being an honest man.

He looks like a nice person😀😀. Imagine how he treats his wife and kids.
  • After the first complaint or maybe two complaints, it should've been looked into. So, it took 93 complaints and counting for this issue to now be a concern? Bull crap
  • @MrMaddox57
very good story. Hold them accountable.
  • 0:13 the department put him on desk duty after this aired... . Imagine if we lived in a world where people had the dignity to do the right thing without needing to be called out for it first

3:48 - The officer that came forward on that stop and voiced foul play against one of his own is a rare breed. Almost unheard of. I mean it happens, but not very often out of fear of their own careers being jeopardized. Hope he makes sergeant.

Always film the police.Expose these tyrants, end qualified immunity ⚖️

What is extremely frightening is the fact that there is that many complaints. Because 99% of innocent people they've abused and violated are to frightened to file complaints. Complains probably show 3% of the actual misconduct being committed.
  • These are the stories America’s People want to hear about. Bravo to Detroit News Reporters.
