When it came out, I called it Super Nintendo, as did everyone else I knew. As a 41-year-old I still call it that to this day.
  • Leaving Secret of Mana off this list is criminal...mindblowing gameplay and music compositions for its time. Honorable mentions need to go to Turtles in Time, Killer Instinct/Mortal Kombat 2, Pilot Wings and Starfox

I call it Super Nintendo Chalmers.

Missing Mortal Kombat II and Turtles in Time!
  • @Starbreakor
DK Country is a Masterpiece, each stage is unique with it's own Soundtrack that is really good and sets the mood.

1991-1995 really was a golden age for creativity. Artists, designers and composers coming together to create many, many labours of love on a console that was worthy. High quality with high output. Honestly, you can do a top-50 for SNES and the drop-off in quality is insignificant. Many classics and many excellent games. And there's something about the vibrant 2D pixel-art that has remained timeless even as the technology has increased.

So glad Chrono Trigger made the list, still quite possibly my favorite game of all time

Turtles in Time should've been on this list but this is still a really good list👌🏿

Lufia 2 Rise of the Sinistrals will always be my number 1. Man, I was addicted to that game for years as a kid.

Star Fox and Secret of Mana not being on an SNES top 20 list but Sim City and Contra 3 is is WILD!

Super Mario World is #1. It was built for the system. They developed the system for the game. Nothing else can come close

Secret Of Mana should be on this list, at least in place of one of the FF entries. That game is incredible.

Crono Trigger was such an experience. I played it with a friend. Very good game to have a friend to get through it all with. That and Zelda. Stayed up all night many nights with those.
  • I grew up with the SNES , bought it in 1992 in Germany, very great console. Golden era of gaming. I had Mega Drive, as well. I grew up with Sega and Nintendo.

Actraiser and Turtles in Time would have made my top 20, but great list nonetheless....that's the problem with making a top 20 list for arguably one of the greatest consoles ever made. The game library for this system is legendary and doesn't have many comparable. As far as sports games go, I can't even fathom how many hours I played Ken Griffey Jr. Presents MLB and the Tecmo Super Bowls. As mentioned by some others Secret of Mana was a great RPG, I would also toss in Ilusions of Gaia, Soul Blazer, Terranigma, and Breath of Fire series. Also, not counting games like Sunset Riders, Wild Guns, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Goof Troop, Pocky & Rocky, or Super Turrican.
  • The SNES had so many note worthy RPGs, the FF series and Chrono Trigger being some of my all-time favorite RPGs to date. Another that I think falls into that same level of awesomeness was Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. Beyond Oasis was another action RPG that I always thought came close to Zelda.

Beating super punch out took forever....felt great beating it. Staying up till 4am in elementary school
