I couldn’t agree with you more, I’d rather the money in my bank account. I think I’m where you are in that part. I LOVE bags and want them often but I get super overwhelmed by the amount I have. I’ve cut my bag purchase down SO much! I love your channel and whatever direction you decide to go in.

Affording life without stress now that is the true luxury! ❤ You are doing the right thing! Life costs money. Having a healthy emergency fund ready to go that is so much more satisfying than any bag
  • @mindyh9331
Absolutely! I feel the same way. I love the feeling of being debt free more than I like luxury bags. Plus I am an all in Coach girl so it works out for me. I am so conservative that I even sometimes feel guilty for having my Coach bags. You are doing a great job as a single mom and you are teaching your kids valuable lessons!

I consider everything I love as luxury too, Julie. I just took several bags to consignment to get my collection to 25 bags. It feels good to let go. I only want bags that I truly love. We've all made mistakes - live & learn, so don't beat yourself up. Your new direction sounds great! ❣️🌻
  • I love it when luxury lovers speak up with honesty to their audience!! Thank you for sharing. ❤❤

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯. I’m an empty nester. My kids now buy me bags. They always came first and I made sure they looked better than me. Our kids are the future. I watch any video you put up. Heck it can be on fitness or healthy eating and I would watch it. Great video Julie, TFS❤❤❤

Hi Julie!!! I totally agree with what your saying. When I was a single mom raising kids on my own for 10 years I never bought luxury bags for myself. You are so smart and I admire you for being so logical. WE handbag lovers need variety and I do too! I love your views, good for you for resisting these crazy handbag prices.
  • We all went nuts during COVID and probably bought so much more than in previous years. I know I did. I’m now trying to sell off anything I don’t absolutely love. I’m excited to see what I can clear out.
  • Hi Julie! I get it completely. I feel like I have enough luxury bags in my collection, but there are some vintage styles that I want to add but only at a great price. I get just as much joy from my contemporary bags as luxury brands. I don’t care about projecting an image or buying things just to show on my channel and then get rid of them shortly afterwards. I buy what I like and what I will use, and I’m not planning to buy much this year. I’m 56 and I want to retire as early as I can. I don’t have any family to help me if I were to overspend. I’ve gone in and out of buying high end luxury for over 20 years, I really have to like something to get excited about it. I like a variety. As much as I love bags, there’s more to life than things.

Thanks for sharing, Julie - not easy showing vulnerability and being really honest with your message. You have my 100% support!

Julie, your video resonated deeply with me. As someone who has also experienced shifts in priorities and spending habits, especially regarding luxury items, your perspective is both insightful and affirming. Your decision to find joy in more accessible brands and focus on the happiness they bring, rather than solely chasing high-end labels, echoes my own journey. It's empowering to hear you speak about making mindful choices that align with personal values and responsibilities, especially as a single parent. Your approach to building a handbag collection that brings joy without financial strain is a lesson in balance and self-awareness that I've also learned over time. Your content continues to inspire and validate the experiences of many, including myself. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and authenticity.

I agree that less expensive bags can bring us just as much pleasure and having variety is nice too! What has really helped me come back down to earth from labels and more expensive things is seeing these videos where someone is repairing or deconstructing a bag and you see just what/how these really expensive bags are made. And they're JUST BAGS at the end of the day. We're paying alot for labels! So while I love a great quality bag, we can find that in some of the less expensive/more accessible brands too. Also, when something is really expensive, I almost don't want to use it and take a chance on ruining it! Anyway, great video and great points. You're doing the wise, smart thing! I'd much rather have the money in my 401(k) than on my shoulder! :)
  • I am loving this video. I find it fascinating to hear what brings you joy and the priorities you have set in your life. Bravo for being such a great mom and knowing what is most important in life! People are definitely more important than things every day of the week❤❤❤.
  • Hi Julie. I resonate with everything you said: the way I grew up, guilt, wanting to give my daughter what she needs, etc. great video! Thanks for sharing!
  • @bagspassionate
Julie, Hands Up for you! 👍👍😘😘❤❤ what a great video, thanks so much for sharing! I love all your reasons , you nailed it. I love your channel and i can also say I love aleady how you want your channel to become! sounds great! I think that it is nice when channel evolues , because our own life evolves! And our channel are ourselves! and if we want to stay true to the people who watch us and listen to us, we need to show them how we really are and how we evolve too. So a big yes to your channel, because we can feel your change. You talk with your heart and this is just great. 😘😘❤❤

Julie ❤you are truly beautiful from the inside out! I completely understand everything you are saying…this video really makes so much sense. You have a beautiful handbag collection and lots of variety. Always love watching you and hope you are doing well beautiful lady! 🥰😘❤️
  • @glorianelson9538
Julie- What you are talking about in this video I call common sense spending. It horrifies me when I see people buying things just to talk about them on YT or, in everyday life, going into debt just to have something really expensive to show off. The points you are making are realistic and I agree with you that saving for your son's college, a new computer etc. is way more important. I don't think you're trying to tell anybody how to use their money but what you're doing with your own. RE: Your channel, I believed I mentioned that I prefer "lifestyle", rather than one single topic over and over. You are headed in the right direction girl!! Enjoy the weekend!

Totally logical and very responsible thinking. I am also done with feeding the greed of high end brands from the LVMH and Kering conglomerates especially when you look at the absurd price increases these days. Their greed knows no bounds. Worst of the worst are Chanel and LV.
  • @janehex
So with you on all of this Julie! Once you slow down shopping and really take a look at what you have (for me anyway), you realize that it's just not worth it anymore to spend all this money on handbags (or other stuff!). I am working to live BELOW my means right now, and that means getting excited about saving money instead of spending it. To be honest I have been tempted by some Coach bags a couple times this year, but still haven't purchased. I'm sticking to my goal, maybe I will treat myself to one new bag this year, after I have hit my savings goal of $10,000! That's right, ONE. 😎 And it will be WELL below $1000.

I love this video and so much of what you’ve shared on here resonates with me. Little by little, I too have started parting ways with my higher end bags because I too felt the guilt and just didn’t feel responsible. That plus knowing I could grow my money by investing in different areas (because I sold myself on the investment lie 😂) — the practicality of it just fully kicked in. I do admit that I have a few lux bags left, but they’re ones on the lower end of the spectrum that I still enjoy. I literally just started my own channel and fully intend on discussing topics like this so I’d love to join in on the conversation. While I love handbags, I also love simplicity and growing my bank account too. Thanks for sharing!!!
