How to create a strategy for your life.

Published 2024-07-05
Hey! In this podcast episode, I talk about creating a strategy for your life vs creating a plan for your life (and clarify the difference between the two). I also share a few "strategic choices" I'm experimenting with for my podcast.

I lovelovelove shorter, more frequent content! I generally click away from anything super long (more than about 20 minutes), even if it intrigues me, because I just don't have the time or patience for it, especially on a regular basis. Once in a while, for a special topic, okay. Every week? Nope. But regardless of length, the most important part is the value of that content, and I always get great value from your videos/podcasts, no matter how long or short they are, and I appreciate that SO much! <3

Good changes for the podcast. I also like weekly, even if it's shorter, over longer but less frequent. Gives me something to look forward to more regularly. And this concept of strategy over plans intrigues me. I've been wanting to shift in some areas of my life and this gives me a new concept to work with. Thank you!

New subscriber! I loved this episode because 1. the content was clear and actionable 2. The title was descriptive, not clickbate 3. Your presentation was clear and relatable. It seemed that you know what you are talking about, but are "one of us". I'm hopping over to your channel home to see what I've missed!
  • I really love this. As a visual artist, it feels especially pertinent, yet genuinely not something I've heard of before. Society/productivity culture seems to focus so much more on plans, but I've always felt that I get the most done when I focus on strategy e.g. show up in the studio a certain number of hours vs. make a set number of artworks.

Yayyy on the strategic choices, love shorter episodes and your solo episodes are my favourite anyway! You always provide a lot of value, thanks for doing what you do💜
  • I love showing up to your podcasts and videos because of how well-researched, and thought provoking your content is! Thank you for all of your efforts.

i must say, i do love the mini-moves...

Loved this content. This breaks down the issue better than most way I have heard the message of strategy. I think I can apply this today!

I love this! The comparison to experiments was really helpful to me as a researcher. It sounds like the Strategy is the theory (based on past observations, the past evidence of what works and what doesn't, etc.) all your strategic choices as testing a hypothesis based on that theory. So, just like how you test a hypothesis based on your theory, you test your strategic choices based on your strategy.

Plans never worked for me. Strategy thinking seems very natural and it doesn't look risky at all for me! I'll apply it 😁

Love how to the point and awesome this message is! Thank you as always for these nuggets of wisdom!

I honestly love the longer in depth format, that I feel wasnt espacially long to begin with tbh, and feel the mini moves segment is one of the best components, so I really hope both come back 😊 But I definitely wasnt a fan of the guests and prefer ur solo episodes. Either way, huge fan 😊💛
