Finding housing accommodation is already difficult and expensive in fashion capitals like New York and Paris. A lot of models who fall for the "Model Apartment" trap are often too young or don't have permanent residency to secure an apartment on their own. Oftentimes, models are only in the city for a short or unknown period of time and are unable to commit to a full-year lease. In these cases, modeling agencies typically convince their talent that a model apartment is the best option for them.
As a result, the agencies and companies offering these apartments are able to rent a single bed (or even a couch) at a massive premium.
Most models in a city like New York pay anywhere from $50 - $65 per night to stay in a shared room with as many as seven other models at a time.
When people ask me about "Model Apartments" I typically tell them to avoid staying in one at all cost. While a model apartment can give you a unique living experience, it can be more costly to a model than actually going out to find an apartment on your own.
How to Start Modeling

One of the best ways to become a model is to start by attending agency open calls or doing an online submission as some of the models listed in this video did to begin their careers. Most of the Top Female Models in the world today are represented by IMG Models, DNA Models, Next Models, Society Model Management, and Elite Model Management.
