backstory:
almost nothing is known about her, as she seems to be very secretive towards her own information and her past. many have made inferences about her, specifically those who she’s saved or people who have accidentally stumbled upon her. she doesn’t seem to have a home nor a family to go to, as she’s been seen camping out in forests on the outskirts of villages or she would be seen visiting villages throughout the night, dealing with demons. based on her outfit, she looks as if she would be part of the demon slayer corps, but there are no records of her at the demon slayers’ headquarters. her mask seems to be one of urokodaki’s hand-made fox masks, which she uses to protect her identity. therefore, it is inferred that she was once one of urokodaki’s apprentices, but urokodaki has only claimed to train 15 (i think it was 15???) students.
it is noted that she seems to just appear out of thin air at the presence of danger or that she seems to be everywhere at once. if someone’s in the presence of a demon, it’s almost as if she can sense it, appearing right then and there to deal with it quickly. before the demon fades away, the bringer of balance will take flowers out of a basket she carries with her and place it where the demon dies to see it off to a better life once reborn. then, she leaps away into the trees (she’s spotted in the trees often, leaping from branch to branch as a way to travel quicker than on foot) as quickly as she came. anyone who’s seen her fight knows that she’s incredibly powerful, using an unknown form of breathing she dubs balance breathing. her strength and skill along with all the demons she’s killed would technically make her eligible to become a hashira. although she’s recently attracted the demon slayer corps’ attention, she has no known affiliation with them to this day.
there are times when she speaks to townspeople. she is known to play the shamisen, as many can hear her playing it and singing in the village outskirts. sometimes, she’ll play the shamisen for young children in the village and tell them a story before she leaves. many of the stories she tells are of ancient heroes and protectors, some even about the trials she’s faced or enemies she’s slain. that’s one of the only times anyone hears her voice.
personality:
on the outside, the bringer of balance is very aloof and mysterious. she appears distant and secretive, never giving anyone a straight answer to questions, especially ones involving her or her past. she can also be very battle-hungry, getting swept up in the midst of fights and can be brutal or merciless. she’s good at getting her point across, appearing very blunt, and isn’t afraid to use colorful language (not in a vulgar way, she only curses when she finds it suitable). as for how she acts towards people she knows, this is unknown. she’s never told anyone about her past or made many friends, so she’s never warmed up to anyone.
