So basically, it shows Speckle debating whether to save the kits or save himself. He goes to save the kits and accidentally snaps the branch they were on and they fall to their death.
FLASHBACK it's him waking up and then going to back to sleep. He thinks it's a dream but it's actually real life, it's him meeting up with the cat that has fire but it's actually him that made the fire himself but I guess his mind was being wacky and always blaming other cats???
anyways, he sets fire to everything and that's where he is now, in the fire debating whether or not to save the kits.
moral of the story: don't play with fire
