Human beings have inalienable rights which are not gifts from a god but innate requiring only mutual recognition and the protection of law.

No argument, no matter how sound or persuasive, will ever change a closed mind; but a mind that is moved by every argument, no matter how flimsy or unfounded, will be too easily exploited. "I don't know" can be a perfectly rational response and "Let's find out" is an even better one.

Science is a self-monitoring process. If mistakes are made, only science itself (the systematic accumulation of knowledge via observation and experimentation) can discover and rectify the matter. Science is the source of all our remarkable progress. Look around. Marvel at what we know and what we've yet to learn. If you're not a fan of science: step away from whatever gizmo you're reading this on - you shouldn't be trusted near a toaster.
