  • It’s amazing how many of these wrestlers powered through these injuries. I’m torn between mad respect and wanting to slap them for not getting medical attention sooner.
  • @liddytheweeb
You could make an entire video on Mick Foley and the injuries he sustained in his career. He would be a fantastic guest, he’s such a sweetheart. Fun fact: he’s obsessed with Santa and Christmas
  • @denysebrooks8770
The worst part between Edge and Christian is they’re actually childhood best friends. I can just imagine Edge felt so bad for actually hurting him.
  • @canderia
The woman that refused to let go of the hold (which wasn't supposed to happen) completely ruined her career. It was a real shame because she had a ton of momentum and goodwill with fans, and she flushed it all away with one terrible decision.
  • I think that Dr. Mik would understand so much more if he brings a wrestler to analyze the injuries together! He would explain what's scripted, what's not, when they know they have stop, etc.
  • @Dumbodwarf
Eddie's death was really quite tragic, It was talked about in a show called Dark Side of the Ring during an episode talking about another wrestler Chris Benoit. Chavo Guerrero (Eddie's uncle) starts by saying that Eddie would pass out in the middle of a conversation they were having and found out that this happened in other situations as well. After checking in at the hotel they were staying in at Minneapolis, Chavo got a call from the front desk in the morning saying that something was wrong with Eddie and a security guard says that he didn't answer his wake up call. They go to his room and Chavo finds Eddie face down in the bathroom as if he was about to brush his teeth and he shakes him and cleanes his face and Eddie is just gurgling and passes in Chavo's arms. He was 38
  • I like how even doctors aren't immune to cringing from horrible injuries.

As a life long WWE fan who has been to several shows, in defense of the Con-Chair-to: when done properly, the chair hits the top of the other chair to make the noise and makes minimal contact with the head. It's still not ideal (for obvious reasons) but is safer than it looks
  • @solsticelacer
The chair shot to the head on the ladder was an accident. The wrestler is supposed to hit the chair below their opponent with the chair they're holding, making a big noise but actually slightly missing the person. Because they were on a ladder and couldn't set up as perfectly as they would have liked, he actually got hit.
  • @zangy3748
Please do more of these. Wrestlers put so much on the line just to entertain the crowds so making people aware and educated of what happens to these athletes is important.
  • @yourfavoriteliv
Hey Dr. Mike! Just wanted to let you know that my local Alabama news station has been doing stories lately about medical TikTok misinformation. I think you've started a chain reaction! Also, I love your videos so much! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the communuty!
  • Mick Foley ear loss was half the story. Before the match one of the wrestlers said the ropes were slack, they weren't, but the officials tightened them anyway. One of Micks signature moves back then was to flip around the rope and be in like a hangman position. He was being actually hung though so he forced the ropes over his face, causing the ear to tear.
  • @quntface1518
The weird thing about pro wrestling is that because it's dismissed as "not real" the performers often feel like they want to try harder to be "tough" and as it's not a traditional sport there isn't really any mandatory doctor stoppage.
  • Mick Foley’s entire career has been brutal. With all the bumps he’s taken he’s lucky to be alive.
  • @melissacrow405
Thank you for clarifying about deafness! So many people don't understand that about deafness. I was born without the "hair" cells in my airs that transmit sound and I have gradually become deaf over time as more and more of those cells disappeared. People ask me all the time if I had an injury to my ear without understanding that it's inner-ear issues that cause deafness. You can cause temporary deafness from injury and certain trauma can cause issues but it's, as you said, more likely an inner-ear issue. Love your content Doc!
  • As a person with ADHD and OCD I never get distracted or bored while watching Doctor Mike's videos ( I get distracted very easily and very often) and Doctor Mike inspired me of maybe becoming a Doctor one day too. So I would like to thank you for that and for you hard work . So thank you Doctor Mike.🫀
  • @Langford-Artist
As someone who trained in pro wrestling has had 3 professional matches in local shows. When you hear an Audible groan from a wrestler after a slam like 15% of the is acting but the other 85% of that is 100% real. It’s a tough profession
  • @darkwulf2k
I'd love to see Dr. Mike review one of the most infamous matches of all time. The Hell in the Cell, Undertaker vs Mankind. The fight literally stopped for medical reasons at one pt.
  • Also on the Eddie Guerrero part of how he passed away he had past addictions with pain medications which while he overcame that addiction it’s probably what contributed to his early passing.
