Eruption Number 9 Will Probably Become a Reality Late This Summer

I was holding on to the theory that the magma inflow was decreasing for as long as I could but it's no longe sensible since the numbers are quite clear about this. Eruption number 9 will most likely occur late summer or early autumn. We have been putting up a strong fight against those elements of nature but to be realistic, we can only do so much so we better get prepared for a cold winter on the Reykjanes peninsula because anything else would be pure luck, as things look now.

Some of the summer shots in this video are from projects iv'e been filming recently and many of them will be online soon.

Perhaps I'm late to notice, but many congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers! Thank you for great content Gylfi.
  • You are Icelands best promoter! Honest, thoughtfull and positive, while deeply connected to the land and the people. Thank you.
  • @aoilpe
My best wishes for this summer to all Icelanders and the rest of the northern hemisphere…🌞☀️🌅
  • Thank you, Gylfi. I hope the alternative hot water source works out as more than a backup and that more safe hot water and electricity sources can be added to the peninsula infrastructure as soon as possible. I also hope that Grindavik will be able to come back to life with tourism and especially fishing.

Thank you for the update, Gylfi, you always present the bigger picture in a very down to earth way, without sensational content. It is so sad that Grindavik is becoming a ghost town and people have lost their homes and livelihoods. It is a waiting game with no idea of the end results.
  • You stated a sad, likely inevitable truth about writing the power plant off, and moving forward when everyone is focused on courageous efforts to avoid this very thing. Tough position for political and financial authorities to be faced with.
  • Thank you for your feedback on the eruption. We were staying at the Northern Light Inn on the 28 May this year. We love this place and have grown fond of Frederik and his establishment. E wish him and everyone in the area best of luck! We will be back soon.
  • Good morning Gylfi or goodnight from me just going off to bed...I feel so saddened about Grindavik I know if it was me I too would love to back to my home...however there are still the danger from all the chasms under the surface... this was a great video... you have sunshine for a change...Iceland is a bit like here suffering from the dearth of sunshine...and when it does appear we kind of drop everything and sun worship for as long as we can...I hope to see you pop up in my alerts soon ATB from Scotland 😀🌠

Thank you for the update. I agree there is no sign it will end anytime soon, one can only hope for a safer place for the next eruption. In the meantime, enjoy the lovely summer
  • @pef1960
    Congrats on reaching 100k, Gylfi
  • Enjoy your trips chasing the summer sun! Your patience in waiting for enough data points on future eruptive events before saying anything is appreciated!
  • You are the Voice of Reason, Gylfi. I wish you all well❤🎉
  • My heart breaks for the people of Iceland and what they are having to and going to have to face. I can hear the sorrow in your voice too, A good job you Icelanderes are strong souls
  • Looking forward to those “tourist “ videos that you will be taking throughout the summer. Have enjoyed your past ones very much! Thanks for the great update also!😊
  • Sincerely wishing you, and every Icelander an enjoyable summer 🌞☀️✨ I remain, as always, to keep my fingers crossed for you all and the land structures that are under threat. Stay safe 👍 ❤
  • @Rorschach.
Thanks Gylfi. Continuing to keep everything crossed in this lull in activity.
