If this was back in 2012, it would have been a game creepypasta

I think I read somewhere in an article about mimics, that the developers didn't include fake bonfires, because it would have destroyed the magic of seeing bonfires as the saving grace and as a point of pure security in a harsh world. In retrospect I often saw a bonfire from afar and tried to reach it ASAP, so they activate a strong desire in players to rush towards them. If I would always have to guess, whether it is a fake bonfire, the feeling would be way different. Mimics are a different situation, because chests don't give you security and are often at dangerous places with lots of enemies :)

Ah yes, the Lost Izalith Backrooms, also known as the Belowrooms.

According to the wiki this is cut content enemy "Claw-Hollow", apparently a hollow in a transitional stage of becoming a Cragspider, from Blighttown.

This looks like it was made by spinning room models around in odd ways, turning walls into floors.

Am I the only one that was bracing myself for a train jumpscare?

Excellent use of those enemies. I always wondered what their attacks were.

That enemy is genius the way it actually appears like a bonfire from the distance only to ambush you --- wow ... I'm really surprised they didn't add this enemy into the game. it's ingenious. Insidious. I suppose it could have been seen as maybe a bit cruel but no crueler than a mimic and it isn't really a fake bonfire because it reveals itself as you get closer it's not like they tricked you. You just wanted it to be a bonfire so badly that you may have not have noticed. It's... it's really smart.

sooo, you basically entered the backrooms of dark souls

Man, the concept of a bonfire in a really poorly lit area, only for it to be a fire wielding enemy is something that boggles my mind, definetively should have been in the main game.

Thought it was just going to be indentical chambers one after another like the Dark Souls backrooms
