"hm, im starting to think this is just another nsmb game!" -while talking about green stars and progression gates, neither of which exist in nsmb šŸ’€
  • Counterpoint: If you want each character to have unique abilities, you can just equip the appropriate badges. Or, alternatively, for players who donā€™t want that, they can just not do this. In other words, optionality! Just like you wanted!

This is the video equivalent of Peter Griffin saying The Godfather "insists upon itself."
  • Honestly, playing this game felt like Yellow Submarine: Super Mario Bros. edition.
  • I love the game, itā€™s super creative, looks amazing, functions perfectly, however, itā€™s so easy that it has almost zero replay value.
  • Bro is trying to be different. Thereā€™s so much more things you can do! The wonder effects are unique and its replay value is off the charts!

I think a lot of issues you mentioned are valid, altough there are some things that didn't click with me. Firstly, (this is my personal opinion) tying characters with abilities is worse compared to the badge system. It makes the characters unique but this system allows players to choose both their character and their ability. (but the badge system could definitely be reworked.) To put it in another way, If my favorite character is Luigi, I can't glide. 06:04 I don't understand the problem with Wonder Seeds and them being progression keys. They give players a reason to explore more. It doesn't matter if it's a Green Star or a Wonder Seed as long as it serves its purpose as a collectible. 06:13 Does this mean every platformer Mario game that has progression keys is the same game? 09:50 This game is much more than a reskinned Mario Bros Wii. It adds so many new enemies, new locations, a (slightly) different story, new gameplay mechanics, new powerups and cool level design. I am not saying this is the best Mario game in the franchise, but it certainly doesn't suck.
  • For the characters I have to disagree, making characters skins isn't a problem when we hae costum badges that serve the SAME thing basically
  • For me I was just thrilled to see Nintendo doing something other than a sandbox. Mario, Zelda and PokĆ©mon had all been going that route and it was just nice to get a solid 2D platformer again. I donā€™t think the game is bad at all, but I donā€™t think itā€™s better or worse than the ā€œNewā€ games. Mixed on the character thing. I think having them all the same would have worked better for 3D World. Peach is so slow in that game that sheā€™s not fun to play as, but in 2D it wouldnā€™t be a huge deal.

I think super Mario bros wonder is a pretty great game but this video is one of the only negative reviews that actually make sense because it pointed out lots of stuff that was wrong that I didnā€™t even think of looking at before. Noice video!
  • Yeah, I was kind of pissed about the score and the timer not being there. Some other person who actually scolded the games for HAVING the time in there because they can't explore the level as well as they want to. They're levels that go from left to right, and very rarely offer any linear paths in them. What do you expect? Also, I guess that person wasn't a fan of challenges. A lot of the issues I agree with, but I think the most annoying problem to me was the length of the game itself. I have Sonic Superstars as well, and I'm enjoying the hell out of that game.
  • This game was over hyped and i was really excited about playing a new side scrolling game cause i prefer them over open world mario games. 1. It's way to easy including the final boss and stages 2. Barley an power ups like a blue shell and gigantic mushroom. Also the elephant power up is just a worse version of racoon Mario. 3. Soundtrack is ass besides Bowser's theme 4. Way to short ( passed it in two days) 5. Plot is stupid šŸ¤¦ 6. Not worth 100 percenting 7. Very few enemies 8. No mini games and local vs mode like in NSMB Conclusion It was a waste of $60 and NSMB 2 and 3D Land is the best hands down I really need to start looking into games more carefully before i buy them cause the same thing happened when I buyed the Skywalker Saga ā˜¹ļø

I'm actually glad that Wonders is not just a glorified "New" Super Mario Bros again from the DS up to Wii U/Switch. From art Direction to gameplay, Wonders gave a new breath on 2D side scrolling Mario.. If im going to rank this, it's on #2 on my list as the Best 2D Super Mario Bros next to my all time favorite Super Mario Bros 3.

You are right I am always right because even when Iā€™m wrong I could have been right so Iā€™m still right šŸ˜˜šŸ˜‚

The way the first youtube suggestion i see is "how is mario wonder perfect"

I played mario wonder with my father and i found it more fun than any other Mario multiplayer. The nsmb game make it a chore to play together when it should be a fun cooperative experience not one of anger. The anger in games should come from competition, and 2d mario is not a game of competition its a game of getting to the end. Competition in 2d mario games only happen on time based mesuments like speedrunning. This can not exist when you are with another person. You need your partner as a means to an end. Also i find different players having different abilities is not a great idea. It means they would have to make different level design for different characters. Therefore making the single player not as fun because you would have to play the same level multiple time's even if you did not like the level because they would have to make the playeble characters abilities have a point. This game does fail on that also because there is no point to using the badge's anyway but if you locked them behind characters they would matter less. Also it would make picking a character less fun because for instance you want to play as luigi because you like his character design the best but you like the moves of Yoshi the best then that would be a tough decision. I find the game already does have this problem but locking the moves based on characterwould make it worse. This game is not as good as mario world but it fixes a lot of the problems with nsmb. I also disagree with your point with how the game is not fun to come back to because why does a game have to be fun forever. Why can't a game be a one and done. Yes a game that is just shock value is not fun but most games are not fun the second time around because they are impactful. This is a thing with movies and books too. How do you see it as possible to create something that is impactful every time you play it or watch it or read it. It has never been done. Would you want something old that of course will get old faster or something new that will get old later. This fundamentally is not nsmb switch because it has a completely different new structure it cant be compared to anything. It isn't just more of the same and can be improved with the next 2d mario game. While sonic superstars cant really be improved without adding more stuff. Thats why i dont compare mario wonder to sonic superstars because they are doing two different strategies because they are it two different problems. Mario has not had a interesting 2d mario in a while so the make mario Wonder. Sonic has not had a original 2d sonic game in a while so the make sonic superstars. Also no one plays for score its doesn't do anything.
