Riders welcome back to Sam's Bikes and today, we're going to test the range or autonomy of seven of the best e-bike motors and systems available in the market. It's a simple test where I'll put all the systems in the high assistant mode and ride my favorite downhill track until the battery runs out. This will help us determine which electric mountain bike system is the most efficient in terms of battery use and has the longest range. So, let's find out which e-bike system is the range monster!

The following are the Ebike motors and battery sizes used in this test:

- The Specialized Turbo System features the Brose S-MAG motor with a 700Wh battery.
- The Bosch CX Race Motor comes with a 750Wh battery.
- The Shimano EP801 is equipped with a 900Wh battery.
- The Giant Syncdrive Pro System uses the Yamaha PW-X3 motor with an 800Wh battery.
- The Bafang M510 has an 840Wh battery.
- The Sram Powertrain uses the Brose Mag S motor with a 630Wh battery.
- The Rocky Mountain Dyname 4.0 features a 720Wh battery.

This is episode four of the biggest electric mountain bike motor test on YouTube at Sam's Bike. I've put a lot of work into this video, but I love to geek out so you riders don't have to.

Episode 1 : MASSIVE eBIKE MOTOR TEST - 7 EMTB Motors, Which Is Fastest?

Episode 2 : WHICH eBIKE MOTOR IS THE QUIETEST? - Noise Test on The Best 7 EMTB Motors!
   • WHICH eBIKE MOTOR IS THE QUIETEST? - ...

Episode 3 : Best Feeling EMTB Motor ? - MASSIVE 7 eBIKE MOTOR TEST
   • Best Feeling EMTB Motor ? - MASSIVE 7...

We will be conducting tests on seven of the best ebike motors that are available in 2024 over the next six weeks. The motors we will be testing are: the Specialized Turbo System which uses the Brose S-MAG motor capable of producing 90nm of torque, the Bosch CX Race Motor which can generate 85nm of torque, Shimano EP801 which also produces an 85nm torque, the Giant Syncdrive Pro System that uses the Yamaha PW-X3 capable of producing 85nm of torque, the Bafang M510 that can produce 95nm of torque, and finally, the Rocky Mountain Dyname 4.0 with a torque of 108nm.

Our tests will include drag racing and hill climbing to evaluate the speed and power of each motor. In addition, we will measure the amount of drag each motor has when over the limiter or turned off, and assess the noise levels of each motor while climbing up and going down the mountain.

We will also assess the integration and application of each system, test their autonomy or range, and evaluate their reliability and local support in case of motor breakdown. These tests will help us determine the most efficient, reliable, and high-performing ebike motor and system for the future.

We would like to thank our amazing sponsors, Schwalbe, Quad Lock, Crankbrothers, and Topeak, for making this possible. And we would like to express our gratitude to each and every rider for their support.

Riders, what a crazy week over 11,000 Meters of vertical climbing to find out which ebike motor has the best RANGE... I hope you like it like always if you have any questions just ask.
  • @mariusovreiu1690
Respect for your work and effort to present us the option in the market. Keep up the good stuff. I wish you well. Nice job as usual
  • @kayakutah
I'm at that age where I sometimes wonder, "did I say this, or just think it real hard?"! You are the "Cal Worthington" of ebikes. That's a compliment. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
  • @christing9223
Great work, nice to see the range in full power for all the motor and battery combos.
  • What an epic video! That kind of test is what we are looking for, real life test, with accurate data. Great video again. Looking forward to see next episode!!
  • @philhicks5818
Lots of good work there sam , always had faith in the levo 🙂
  • @tomcagle5324
Bravo Sam! Good applied field test and controls! Also, as a Bafanger, thanks for including rhe M510...👊
  • @andreiilin
Wow... 😯 What a great job you've done. Thank you Sam. The power of that second extra coffee 😉
  • @SDK2006b
Great video and loving the channel 👍 I've just bought 4x Schwalbe Tacky Chan's for our eBikes (Trek Rail's) - thanks to your recommendation and sponsorship.
  • I think what you have done is a massive effort Sam. Great job. It would be very difficult to generalise each motor and battery without looking at the bike as well i.e amount of travel etc as it would definitely affect the bike range as a whole! I still think that buying an ebike is like buying a car and one has set their mind based on the motor and bike geo etc. This test does give an estimate of the bike's real world range and I think this will be an added info for the potential buyers. If one wants to have a BIG day out and doesn't want to get caught just bring an extra battery or range extenders . Keep it up
  • @veetwinboy1
Fair play Sam. That was an epic undertaking, AND with Manflu 😂😂 I’ve got the Levo Pro so know how good the range is. 👍👍
  • @kverginas
another brilliant video ❤ congrats keep up!! after changing to shorter cranks on your reign e+ do you feel like you lost a bit of the motor power? kept the same chainring?
  • @McNulty030
So much fun to watch, thx for the effort. Just sold my 4y old Merida eone sixty with an 504Wh battery, not enough anymore. Now this helps! But i hardly used the highest support mode (Turbo on Shimano) because it’s just too much.
  • @sashlo.4551
Hi Sam, I cant wait to see this test with the Amflow Dji Bike 😅♥️💪🏻👍🏼
  • @Jesse_James_
Thanks for the test, great job! I was amazed by the Rocky Mountain engine, it is the most powerful of all 108 hm but at the same time it gives an excellent climb, considering that the battery is not the largest in the test!
  • @thealohahour3234
Rad video as always - you should do a series where you ride all your bikes at the same time.
