Tame Impala’s impressive debut album "Innerspeaker" was released 10 years ago. Since then, the psych-pop project led by mastermind Kevin Parker has seen a meteoric rise — headlining festivals, collaborating with top artists and more. At the onset, we knew they were special and this session recorded in 2010 gave us a glimpse of what was to come.

Set List:
0:00 It Is Not Meant To Be
5:56 Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind
9:46 Alter Ego
14:41 Solitude Is Bliss
18:59 Desire Be Desire Go
27:07 Runway, Houses, City, Clouds

Beardless Kevin in a Ninja Turtles shirt, Jay on drums and Nick on bass....what a throwback

The transition from Why won't you make up your mind to Alter Ego is immaculate.

I love the classic tame impala. They were so innocent and humble , yet creating euphorically huge and dynamic music with brilliant lyrics and transcendent melodies. Kevin really was a genius back then (still is). But god damn was innerspeaker good.
  • I love the psychedelic stoner rock Tame Impala. I honestly enjoy all of Kevin Parker's art, BUT this is so beautiful. The synthesis of The Beatles, Bowie, Zeppelin, Hendrix, and early Pink Floyd is magic.

KCRW being hipster "we knew them before they were cool"

On a side note, Kevin’s singing voice has improved sooo much

I really like this 60's Psych Rock influenced era of Tame Impala. Every album and era is great in its own way, but this is my personal favorite.

This line up rocked it when I saw them in 2010 at the Bowery ballroom in NyC, Kev, Jay, Dom, & Nick-- those were awesome shows, and the light show was only a squiggly green light behind them, you've come a long way baby!

I've loved everything Parker has touched from his discography to his collaborations with other artists. People complain about him changing his sound, when in reality, if he made Innerspeaker four different times, it would be super boring. He's changed it up every album, and I appreciate growth from an artist, especially of Kevin's stature. For me, it would be: 1. Currents 2. Lonerism 3. Innerspeaker 4. The Slow Rush HOWEVER, none of them are bad. They are their own time and place.
  • the transition between WWYMUYM and alter ego its so good, glad the video is back up
