In this video I discuss and go over the application of the newest ceramic paint coatings on the market from Cerakote. This is by far one of the easiest coatings to apply. It is also one of the slickest coatings. It is a good first start to a coating and could be great with some tweaks.

I wanted to leave a pinned comment to make a few things clear. First off my intention is to not bash this product because it is not a bad product. My intention is to showcase my experience with the product. I I appreciate cerakote for sending this out to me and letting me try it out. I find it to be a good first version of their coating and I know they will take any feedback to improve it. My testing did have me think that maybe the coating did not get the proper cure time as it was applied outside in mid 60 degree weather with no morning dew. But at the same time I don't believe this to be the case as it was applied to the glass the paint and it is performing beautifully on the glass. So for me this does not seem like a variable to consider. I will be applying it to another panel and letting it cure indoors and report any findings if the performance is different. Things I did like about the coating is the ease of application and the slickness. The slickness of any coating will not last forever as it is an attribute that will fade away rather quickly just like Gyeon Mohs Evo or Cquartz SiC. I can still feel it under the mitt to a degree but bare handed it is not as noticeable. When it comes to gloss well that is subjective as a majority of the gloss comes from polishing and with the paint being silver it is hard to gauge that. I have made it clear on many occasions that I prefer a hydrophobic coating with tight water beading rather than sheeting. Sheeting is not for me based on my experience. Like beading, sheeting has pros and cons that I will not get into at the moment. Cerakote gives me Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light vibes where it is not the most hydrophobic coating and tends to sheet more than bead. I would like to see Cerakote improve the water beading aspect if they are claiming this to be a beading type coating. Overall I think it is a good first start to a coating but with a few tweaks it can be better in my experience using it. At the moment this is not the first coating I would reach for. But I would not discourage anyone from trying it as maybe someone likes this type of coating. If you made it to the end of this comment. Thank you and I appreciate all of you. Take care and happy hlidays.

If they got 500 washes and still beading , then there must have been an error in their formulation when they mass produced all the kits they sent out. There's no way they would have gone to all this trouble of marketing this as a pro coating without thorough testing. I can get getter durability out of TW Ice Seal n Shine.

Interesting to see the comments and other videos. Different results from different people. Thanks for trying this out

Looking forward to your follow-up videos . Doing my sons car with it in the next week or so. Its kept outdoors so will be interesting to see how it goes. Got 5 bottles of this stuff and zero confidence in it at this point
  • Great video my brother appreciate the shoutout on others peoples experiences. It was weird how just after the first wash you’re experiencing slight sheeting. I can’t wait to see how your test goes on the coating 💪.
  • I applied this to one side of my car and DIY Detail on the other side. After washing they’re both holding up the same. So Cerakote vs DIY? Time will tell, so far they’re identical.

We applied 1 coat to a Honda HRV 3 weeks ago that sits outside 24/7 driven, on a 1/2 mile long gravel road multiple times a day. I just checked today with a quick hose down with water only and surprisingly it is holding up well with tight beading, no sheeting in any areas yet and no dead spots at all. This car probably only gets abused and washed only about 6 times a year.. We used 3D One with a Urofiber pad and CarPro Eraser. Located in NorCal. I'm invested in seeing how far this will stretch out as well due to all the videos on it.

Mike, Thank you for sharing this. I to purchased this, I was on the waiting list for sometime to receive it. When it was delivered it was used the following day, excellent results. It has been about 4 months since I applied it and doing very well. Question to you. What kind of cart shelf is that? Where can I purchase it? Again, Thank you for sharing your experience and taking the time to make this, excellent content. Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas and Happy New year. Kevin

Same results, I’ve done 2 cars with the product very lack luster. Will most likely re coat the vehicles in the spring with either BC or Mohs.
  • @KingRockets
On a separate note, what sprayer head nozzle do you use for your hose?
  • @shojus
So far this coating is looking pretty bad. Pan made a video today and the coating took a good size hit after just 1 month. I dont care the price, I'm not taking the time to prep and polish a car to put on a coating that seems to be subpar. Thanks 4 the video
  • How long did it take them to get back to you with the kit? I’m a professional detailer as well. Filled my info out about a week ago. Currently certified by System X but obviously want to try this
  • @insefc
Great review, how much of the coating did you use for this vehicle?
  • @Ochtane101
I’m waiting for the revised Cerakote before I purchase it? If it’s failing, or not curing properly, then they need to fix that, then I’ll consider buying this product.

I just did an Audi Q5 with that product. I have used several products like CarPro Quartz UK 3.0, SiC, Geon's Mohs with good results. I was stunned by the results I got compared to the other products. The gloss is out of this world; none of the product that I have used come close. Also it is the easiest to use that I have used; spread it, wait for five minutes, wipe and it is done. Easy to wipe. So this is my experience so far. We will see about the durability. I did not measure the hydrophobicity yet.

Off topic question.....You mentioned that the clear coat has failed on this car after a repaint 6 years ago. Why do you think that happened considering how well you take care of your paint? Did you polish too often? Was the repaint clear coat too thin?
  • My results were perfect. But I did a complete paint correction in a heated garage. Cericote has revealed in a recent video the issue is when the beading fails this early there is a curing issue. They are releasing a new formula that may allow for lower temperature application. If you call, they will replace with the new product. Having said that my coating is rock hard, perfectly cured and beading very well. I applied at 68 degrees 35 percent humidity. Let cure for 72 hours instead of 2 before washing.

Pan just did a real world 1 month update and the hood looked good, part of the sides went to sheeting but the slickness and gloss remained.
