What's Wrong With Me? Why I haven't been uploading and what's going on...

Published 2023-10-03
In this vlog, I talk about what’s wrong with me this past month and what’s been going on with me. I’ve been struggling with my mental health lately, and that’s why I haven’t been uploading regularly as I usually do. Particularly, I’ve been dealing with an acute episode of depression that has made it difficult to do anything at all.

I’ve struggled to do things as simple as go outside. The thought of doing anything positive or anything that would make me happy has seemed extremely arduous. Depression is strange. I know I’m sad, I know I’m depressed, but I still find it difficult to do the things that I know would make me happy.

I just want to express my gratitude and thanks to all of you viewers and subscribers who continue to support me and my channel. Your words of encouragement and your inquiries as to my well being are very sweet and much appreciated as well. I hope you all know that I truly care about you and the community I’m building with this channel.

I am doing my best to get back to the things that do make me happy: making videos, exercising, learning and speaking Vietnamese, seeing friends, speaking to my family, etc.

I hope that anyone else who is struggling with health or mental health issues can get the help they need and recover.

I hope this video reaches you all well. I hope that if nothing else it is a friendly update as to what’s been going on, what’s wrong with me, and hopefully it is a catalyst of some sorts into getting back into being creative and doing the things I enjoy. Thank you all again very much.

I filmed this personal update vlog in District 1, Saigon, Vietnam, in Co Giang Ward.

Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed this vlog.

  • I am very proud of you. That could not have been easy. You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. We are all flawed and all imperfect. Perfection is an illusion. Social media tends to perpetuate that illusion. Be kind to yourself. Nothing can be done about yesterday. Today is a fresh new day that anything can happen. I love you. I want to say to your fans, thank you for the love and support you have shown to my son. It makes me feel good knowing so many people care for him. Can't wait to see your new vlogs. ❤

Been there, done that 4 times in my life. But each time I still had to get up for my childrens' sake. Took about 1 1/2 months to get myself up each time...just keep going...it will be OK in time....becoming a Christian stop me from falling into depression in my later years. Every time I feel I might be "going down", I recite the Lord 's prayer over and over again to distract my mind. It works for me so far....Thanks for sharing and God bless... By the way I am an Aussie living in Hanoi with my Vietnamese wife in the last 5 years...

Hang in man. I know all to well. Struggling on and off for years. I'm 59 years old and I can honestly tell you that it gets easier to put a handle on it, if you work for it. Fight for it ! If you want to chat, I will be in HMC about the 7th of November. We can have lunch. Let me know. PEACE !

I just found you, and as a shaman, i am sending you warm blessings. When you are at your worst moment, just remember you are not along and just breathe and tell yourself you are worthy. Let go of all negative thoughts and control your breathing. One step at a time.

Glad to see you again and you’re doing better. Mental health is a real struggle. Hope you’ll seek help. And hope you consider treatment to stabilize depression. Stay strong and healthy, friend!
  • One way to fight depression is to keep yourself busy with something, so you don’t have too much time thinking about negative stuffs, like going to the gym regularly, pumping irons, build some muscle. Eat well. Stop smoking. Make yourself look good, and when you look good, you feel good. Also don’t let any negative comments on YouTube videos bother you. If you notice, many really successful YouTubers don’t bother to comment at all, like Mark Weins. Of course you are still a small time YouTuber, so you need to engage with viewers to keep them interested. Ignore the shit talkers. A change of place should help too, either a different city in Vietnam, or a different country.

Hi Bentley, I understand what you are going through. What I can say is please look back at things that you have now and then find happiness in small things that you do like having a good night sleep, enjoying coffee, eating a good meal. Sometimes happiness is not a big thing like having cash, having cars, being famous, it is about enjoying what you have. Even though your channel has not been big yet, you are still on the right track. Please note that you may be not as successful as others but you are still better than many (such as me who was not successful in getting even 10 subscribers, lol). But happiness is something that is very easy to grab if you just value little things you have. For me, for example, having a show that i like watching and enjoying the meal that I like sometimes is happiness to me. I also set goals to myself such as earning money and taking better care of myself and my family. So I hope you can find peace and happiness soon.
  • Good to see you Tyler, I’m a fairly new subscriber, I c a man that is confident, funny, and living a great lifestyle in Vietnam. Life just doesn’t get better than that, I lost my uncle few years ago. He gave me best advice in life. Live day to day be happy with where you are in life, and wait to c the next day. People in Vietnam love you and your personality. Keep up the great work. Don’t worry about nothing, take it easy Tyler ✌️🤚🤚

  • Very glad to see you back again . We really worried about you , about your health , your safety and everything . Once we thought that you already left VN because of your visa situation . Don't get depressed be strong , Don't forget we are always supporting you . Just think positively , take it easy . When you look around you would see more people in much worse situation than you but they are still smiling and happy . Actually you look thinner and more handsome . Bon courage mon ami .
