The respiratory system is composed of the nose or nasal cavity, the pharynx, the larynx, the trachea, the bronchi, and the lungs. The respiratory system's functions are gaseous exchange, inhaling oxygen and exhaling out carbon dioxide, and balancing the pH of the blood. In the lungs are alveoli that are connected to the capillaries. At the alveoli gaseous exchange takes place - oxygen moves into the blood and carbon dioxide moves into the alveoli to be then expelled.

Beautiful! Now I’m just wondering what happens with the bad gas particles like monoxodide or like fire smoke when you breathe it in ? Does the mucosa cavities and lung macrophages also take care of those to filter it out ? Or the toxic fumes are too strong and do they get involved in gas exchange and therefore do those fumes get into our blood ?? Or what happens
