Here's a question... "Is Santa the bad guy?" In all the media we see, he is working those elves to the bone. Sometimes, those elves are even depicted as CHILDREN! What kind of workshop of horrors is he running? It's time to bring back our OSHA checklist and see if he's up to code.

To be fair, the Elves in this movie are very accurate depiction of Elves from folklore. They are cute, magical, live much longer than humans, trick people into contracts and mess with humans for their own amusement.
  • I love how in the first film u can see the elf hiding in the town where Scott lives and blending in with the kids to watch over the new Santa even before the other Santa falls off the roof of Scott house
  • Imagine him at the doctors office like “sir you are showing clear symptoms of being Santa Claus”
  • @ducklordreal
I love how Matpat goes super in depth exploring contracts, work laws, and fraud but doesn't even once mention breaking and entering.
  • I'm sorry, are we just going to ignore the fact that in The Santa Clause's universe, killing Santa is apparently a perfectly acceptable way to become Santa? How many of those past 50 or so Santas have been cold-blooded killers?
  • @ItsN3rdz
As a child I wondered why the elves didn’t care about the old Santa and didn’t mourn
  • FINALLY! Someone who has heard of the greatness of the Santa clause
  • There are roughly 10 years between the first and second movies. This means, that Santa has about 10 years to get married. Why the elves warned him with 28 days left, I don't know but that is another issue. If Santa really does have such a high turnover rate, it could be that the previous Santa dies within those 10 years and hadn't got married yet.

So basically, the real magic of Christmas is evading the law
  • Alright, who’s gonna tell Matt Patt that there’s now a series for the Santa Clause universe?

What if the "death" of a Santa is like being fired from a job, and the Santa in question just returns to their previous life? Not sure if it is ever explained so this would make me feel better about the logic in these films since I grew up with them.

Wow, "Santa is an indentured servant who does a non-compensated and sometimes thankless job cause he's forced to be the elves" is a great prompt for a Christmas horror movie in all honesty.
  • I love how he takes things that no one cared about and puts way too much thought into it. A cycle of theory.
  • I want an updated film theory with the show taken into account bc they do answer a few of his questions but only leave you with more.

Not even gonna lie, I've made nearly the same argument to my family last year that the Santa clause is kind of a terrifying idea as Scott slowly is like brainwashed into being santa
  • Can you imagine how parents would react when instead of putting cookies, their kids just put a worker violation hotline
  • @dustinj918
I was fully expecting a list of all the things Santa does in all media and describing what crime they are. I was NOT expecting to learn that SANTA'S the one who is in desperate need of help.
  • Maybe that’s why the grinch wanted to steal Christmas, he’s just a OSAH inspector who wanted to save Scott from the elves.
  • Okay, so MatPat didn't completely ruin my childhood(cause this was/is one of my favorite Christmas movies) but he gave it a solid beating. I'll admit, watching these movies as an adult, I had started to question how wholesome this series was. I mean, accident or not, Scott did cause the death of Santa, none of the elves seemed at all, bothered that the old Santa was gone, where was the old Mrs. Clause? And, now, I'm questioning why any new Santa has to completely give up their previous life. The elves make the toys, care for the reindeer, keep up the sleigh, etc. They've been doing this for years(centuries even). The only thing they can't(or won't) do, is deliver the toys to all the children around the world. The Santa does that. That's one night around the world. So, 24 hours. Why does he have to stay at the North Pole for the rest of the year? I mean, even if they need to have him come in before Christmas for his suit fitting, how early does that need to be? Early or Mid-November? What reason, other than to have complete control over him, is there for demanding that Santa BE Santa 24/7? I wouldn't be thinking of these things if it weren't for you, MatPat!!
