The intercooler is a good place to start upgrading your turbo engine as it will keep charge temps colder and help reduce heat soak.

    Intercoolers are great but they are off for almost every mod you may want to do.

    My 2006 "facelift" EDM Xt has the STI intercooler from a 'hawkeye' Impreza installed, it also has the taller hood scoop from same. The stock bypass valve is there but it's had a 'snorkus' delete and cold air filter tucked down in front of the driver's side (RHD) front wheel, Prodrive back box/tailpipe. Sounds great but not sure if the mods had been followed up by a remap. Also, the downpipe is de-catted.

    Dude you should insulate your AC hard lines with some heater hose or something where the intercooler touches them. Otherwise it’s going to wear a hole in the lines pretty quickly. Also surprised you could use your forester recirc valve, I had to get the STI on and the hose that goes with it for my 05 XT.

    Why didn't you use the STI BPV? Isn't the FXT BPV a little smaller? Thanks for the video. I was worried about the AC lines and the fit.

    Did you have to bend the AC lines to install the intercooler? I just picked up an STI intercooler to install on my 05 XT and was wondering how to bend the AC lines.

    I thought the recirc valves were different so would need an sti one to fit? I have a forester cross sport and im looking to fit sti intercooler shortly.

    Supposedly with a vta u get back into boost faster between shifts n what not..... Idk as I've just ran the stock bpv on my 04 5mt xt

    Now you’ve fitted a bigger intercooler, should it be remapped ? I’m asking as I have the same car and am putting a bigger intercooler on.

    So I've got an 05 xt forester if I got an sti tmic I can use the stock bpv? No issues
