Dr. Jordan B. Peterson is a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, a clinical psychologist, and the author of the multi-million copy bestseller 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos, #1 for nonfiction in 2018 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, the Netherlands, Brazil and Norway, and slated for translation into 50 languages.

Raised and toughened in the frigid wastelands of Northern Alberta, Dr. Peterson has flown a hammer-head roll in a carbon-fiber stuntplane, piloted a mahogany racing sailboat around Alcatraz Island, explored an Arizona meteorite crater with a group of astronauts, built a Native American Long-House on the upper floor of his Toronto home, and been inducted into a Pacific Kwakwaka’wakw family (see charlesjoseph.ca). He’s been a dishwasher, gas jockey, bartender, short-order cook, beekeeper, oil derrick bit re-tipper, plywood mill laborer, and railway line worker. He’s taught mythology to physicians, lawyers, and businessmen; worked with Jim Balsillie, former CEO of Blackberry’s Research in Motion, on Resilient People, Resilient Planet, the report of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Global Sustainability; helped his clinical clients manage the triumphs and catastrophes of life; served as an advisor to senior partners of major Canadian law firms; penned the forward for the 50th anniversary edition of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago; lectured across North America, Europe, and Australia in one of the most-well attended book tours ever mounted; and, for The Founder Institute, identified thousands of promising entrepreneurs, in 60 different countries.

With his students and colleagues, Dr. Peterson has published more than a hundred scientific papers, advancing the modern understanding of creativity, competence, and personality, while his now-classic book, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief (released in June 2018 as a now bestselling author-read audiobook) transformed the psychology of religion. He was nominated for five consecutive years as one of Ontario’s Best University Lecturers and is one of only three professors rated as “life-changing” in the U of T’s underground student handbook of course ratings.

Dr. Peterson recently came out with his new book Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life, and I suggest you pick up a copy! This book is full of wisdom on how to bring order to the chaos of our daily lives.

I’ve had the honor of interviewing Dr. Peterson in the past (Episodes 664 and 665), and it was a joy to have him back on the show! Our conversation was so insightful that I had to spilt it into two parts, so make sure to listen to Part One as well!

  • Ever since I started listening to this man, I lost 60lbs, got out of a toxic relationship, got my own place, got a better job and held it down, stopped drinking and ofc, kept my room clean. I'm seeing an increase in productivity and inner peace that seems exponential. The "community of selves stretched across time" example he gives describes the feeling perfectly. Edit: to the people asking which specific videos helped me, I honestly can't remember after binging A LOT. And to everyone else, thanks. You all warm my little koala heart.
  • I pray for his health seriously. A man like him should live long enough to help the human race.
  • Love Jordan, he is one of my heroes, not only because of his intelligence, but above all his authenticity. A rare trait among men of his caliber.
  • @chuglyc
Jordan Petersen doesn’t only speak about how to get through hell…He’s done it and is still doing it. His strength in the face of that is an inspiration for me that can’t be found anywhere else. This man is invaluable to us. I don’t know another human that has as much relevant information and advice as him.

"JUST BECAUSE YOU OBEY THE LAWS DOESNT MEAN YOU'RE MORAL, IT COULD MEAN YOU'RE JUST AFRAID" Whoa! 🤯
  • "Conflict delayed is conflict multiplied." True and thank you, Prof❤️
  • @romabatala
This man is my Hero, makes me to get up and go forward after lifes hardships; with his unshakeable logic, love and goodness of his soul

Jordan Peterson is the father, husband, brother and mentor that I never had. I am very grateful to have made his virtual acquaintance. Thank you.
  • Something about Dr. Peterson captivated me. He speaks as though every word has intrinsic value and not to be wasted.
  • When i broke out of my larthagy, it also ended being sick, constant migraines, i would say every day , im happy, at first in dis belief then i changed my tone to maybe i was . Made my bed, opened curtains let light in put on happy music, then did another simple job, did my dishes, dried and put away, and one little job , then another, at days end i could say, wow look at what ive accomplished, i was happy, 21 days, i changed my thinking, energy begets energy and found HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB.. YEARS LATTER, ive done all the things in life ive ever wanted to do. Became a ballet dancer, a motivation speaker, president of a parent teacher school association, a state and a national cycling champion at age 56. A model, owned several businesses, became a professional artist, taught dance lessons, became a better mother to 3 sons, a happier wife 43 years till he died. And now at 80, im content, survived breast cancer , knee, hip and shoulder replacement, no complications easy healings..but lived my life for others. HES RIGHT, ITS NEVER ABOUT YOU, making others happy is the gift you give yourself. Ive had an incredible life.
  • At 66 years of age, I finally feel I'm getting a true education. Jordan Peterson is a teacher and a healer.
  • Nothing I could say would show how grateful I am for Jordan Peterson and his authentic, wise, real, and sharing nature. Thank you so much, Sir! I am older than you, but not wiser. I have learned a lot, and hope to continue learning from you, every day. Thank you again!

Gotta love JP: so authentic. He's not a Guru, he's on the journey with us.
  • @flabbybum9562
A genuine heavyweight intellectual who isn't condescending or angry when they have no grounds for anger. So refreshing.
  • @fredfunk9122
What a gift to the world, I wonder how many people have lives that have vastly improved listening to both men. I went from 30 yrs of alcohol n drug use EVERYDAY 1 or the other or both more likely--today I'm clean n sober n recently enrolled in college to pursue my ps,colony n it all started by listening to both gentlemen
  • It was such a privilege to hear a professional open up so much to show his own vulnerabilities. He doesn't even compare with the psychologists I have ever worked with, especially during my Olympic athletic years...Understanding the meaning of life in the mundane reality, is the true reward of love. Indeed, "conflict delayed is conflict multiplied." Very well said.
  • I’m sure I’m not the only one that is overwhelmed with gratitude that Jordan is back to sharing his gifts with the world. It takes a certain kind of man to openly talk about his faults and flaws.
  • @j.c5078
Jordan Peterson is the father figure of our fatherless generation, his guidance is a powerful light.

Stress is the enemy of humans, nothing is worth being unhealthily stressed ever. We should experience stress that comes from tackling a fulfilling challenge. Encountering a problem is just another step toward your goal, so keep walking until you're there. We all feel difficult emotions bar none, but treat people the way you would want to be treated based on the way you treat a loved one and keep your communications clear and honest.
