Known as one of the most proficient and prolific bass players in extreme music, Steve Di Giorgio’s range extends out from heavy–thrash-death metal, progressing to the technical side of fusion and the fluid & funky field of jazz. While notably performing in Death and Testament, Steve has also established himself as an in-demand studio musician, as his technical and recognizable bass skills have been carved into over 50 albums in his 30 plus year career. When looking for a reliable bass that could adapt to any gig, Steve has trusted his Ibanez BTB models to do the job. So naturally, when designing a new signature model, Steve leaned heavily on many of the key BTB features as the framework for this bass. The final result is the combination of Ibanez’s modern innovations and Steve’s decades of experience – the SDGB.

  • Finally!!! The legend has his own signature model!

The Philospher bass solo at 1:45. 30 years ago I bought a fretless bass (mostly) to play this song, which I did (badly, but with pleasure and conviction) at a couple of gigs. Thank you for being an inspiration, M. Di Georgio. And thank you Ibanez (I have also always been a fan of Ibanez gear, I own 2 basses and a whah pedal).

Steve is so under rated. Thank you Ibanez for recognizing him. This bass looks incredible.

The Godfather of Fretless Metal finally gets his signature model. About bloody time.

Steve Di Giorgio is the reason why I would like to get into fretless basses. And now the SDGB1 would definitely be my dream fretless bass!

Oh he finally got a signature model, he has been playing Ibanez basses for a while already. It's nice to see a BTB model that has a gloss finish, most have only the open pore natural. Steve is a great bassist that deserves more praise and recognition.

I did not realize a fretless bass could sound that aggressive, very impressive!

I started playing an ESP 4 string fretless back in 2002 because of Steve - he was the number one inspiration for me way back then. I had never heard fretless bass in metal and it changed everything I thought I knew. Absolute legend!

One of the greatest bass players of all time. Long time deserved signature model.
  • @RH-xs8gz
A monster player. His work with Death was amazing!

About damn time! Easily my number inspiration for bass playing. Never understood why ESP never made a signature model for him back in the day.
  • Steve makes any bass sound good. Top ten best players that have ever lived (so far).

His playing on Individual Thought Patterns made my brain splatter. Incredible player by skill, but where he excels over essentially everyone else is the creativity of his lines and creating a unique style that you can recognise within a few seconds.
  • "The Explorer" bass lines OMG so amazing, i ♥ Vintersorg and the work you did with them , amazing , the SDGB1 sounds and looks great 😻 you're a legend Steve!
  • I've waited my whole life for this. I bought an ESP fretted bass because I loved Steve's playing, and I would have bought a signature if he had one back then. When I go into fretless I got a Warwick 6, once again because Steve didn't have a signature model. If I ever end up getting a new bass this is it.

Steve and Les claypool are the reason i started playing bass. About time he gets a signature model very interesting to see a fretless for a change , curious about the pricetag i like that it doesn''t look toooo flashy like some signatures with bloodsplatters on it or the artist name on the front of it.

This man is a legend! And the bass is beautiful, good job Ibanez!
