Hey, loyal Theorists, did you see Dune or Dune: Part 2? We here at Theorist absolutely LOVED it. In fact, we’re all on board to support the Lisan al Gaib. But while watching the movie, we had one major question. No, it wasn’t how on Arrakis all of those Fremen got on and off the sand worms. It was about if the stillsuits would actually work in real life. Could Paul, Chani, and Stilgar survive those brutal deserts? Could they actually get water? Or would they become so disgustingly STINKY from their own b-o? Grab your Crysknife and let’s find out!

@2:28 in the book, crying isn’t viewed as a waste of water. It is viewed as an even more intense emotion because it shows how much you care by giving your water away in sadness.

Actually, people who live in the desert wear skin tight clothes and bandages. It stops them from losing a lot water and isolate them from the heat and sun. The flowing clothes goes on top of the first layers to protect from wind, sun and sand.
  • Hello everyone, your friendly neighborhood Bait Police officer here to remind you not to reply to bots under comments. Replying to them makes YouTube think that they’re real people. Things to do if you see a bot reply: 1. Do NOT reply! I know it might be tempting to clap back as these bots tend to slander our favorite creators, like Lee here, but replying to them will fool the YouTube algorithm into thinking that they’re real people. 2. Report the comment either for “Unwanted commercial content or spam”, or for “Harassment and bullying.” 3. Block the account by going to their channel, first pressing the “Report” button to report the channel and then clicking “Hide this user from my channel” so that pesky bot account can’t reply to your comments anymore. Safe commenting, friends -Officer Miguel O’Hara of the Bait Police

“I’ll give you my dirty little secret, (dirty little secret, dirty little secret) don’t tell anyone one” - Timothee Chalmet
  • It’s honestly remarkable how accurate some of the stuff Herbert wrote was even though that was so long ago. Shows he was either an absolute genius ahead of his time, spent ages doing research on the little they could know back then, or some combination of both. Either way, incredibly impressive how well the source material continues to hold up 60ish years later!

The only thing not touched on with the still suits is there would have to be some... uncomfortable hoses fitted in sensitive places to ensure proper waste removal.

I was sceptical about film theory without Mat Pat but my worries have vanished with this amazing video. Keep up the good work!

When talking Dune with others who don't care as much you can throw in "Grandma's cataracts" and most people won't notice

I would love to see this channel tackle the idea of the Mentats and is it possible for them to exist in the future. For those that haven't read the books, Mentats are humans that had been trained up to be basically living computers (the Galaxy had gotten way anti-AI since long before Dune started), being able to mentally take in huge amount of data and drawn upon them to form very solid conclusions about event, even being able to somewhat predict the near future.

“Scientists say this water is actually cleaner than the water that comes out of your faucet!” Me who lives in Brazil: “That’s not saying much.” Don’t get me wrong, our tap water is by no means contaminated or brown with dirt, but it’s by no means drinkable either.
  • I’m glad to get another Dune Theory. I haven’t watched Part 2 or finished the first book yet. But I’m still glad to dive back in.
  • I'm still not used to clicking on a Film Theory video and not hearing MatPat's voice, but I hope he's doing well and living his best life. For all the years he dedicated to YouTube, he deserves it
  • @MissHugs
"my god, it's full of stars." he q,ready cracked me up and we haven't even started

What's nice about Lee is that he already has plenty of experience being a vocal performer and sits comfortably in his own voice, and as a writer too! He's so soothing to listen to, as well as being a humongous nerd. I've been looking forward to every new Film Theory more and more with our new host!
  • @exvocks7358
It's Film Theory with Lee, of course I'm clicking
  • I was shocked to learn the suits weren't also solar or thermal powered considering the heat around them and the sun
  • @less_likely
Great piece. One correction. 10° C is only 18° F when talking relative temperatures. 10° C only = 50° F when talking about absolute temperatures because 0° C = 32° F Still they point stands. Raising your body’s temperature 18° F is probably pretty quickly fatal.
  • One of his first theories and he’s already talking about reclaiming poop, it’s truly a theorist milestone
