I rank this sequence as one of the greatest action sequences ever made. The true magic of Anderson productions is that they had lavished on them all the attention to detail in music, editing, cinematography etc, that live action does. Close your eyes for a moment listening to this and you can see it as a fantastic action sequence in a modern film with real people. Pity the producers of the 2004 abomination didn't understand this.

62 yrs old .............And i still love it

Remember that this was made about 1965. Superb animation. Great brakes too.
-
One of the greatest TV shows ever made...forget the modern CGI remake, THIS is the real Thunderbirds! And for a kids' show it is unbelievably gripping...
-
I loved this as a kid.. I still love it.. A big kid from down under.. Thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿

Absolutely brilliant. One of the most memorable Thunderbirds scenes for me.... "lift port wing.... LIFT PORT WING!!"
-

This First Episode Blew My Mind in 1967 when i was 10 yrs old.

Pure genius. I first saw this in the early 70s, and was hooked. It was back in the day with no video recording, you had to be there on time or miss it! I still get a buzz from that music, its unreal. Back when i was a district nurse, I had a disabled patient who had a ceiling hoist to lift her out of bed and into her wheelchair. She had a recording of the Thunderbirds theme music on a cassette, and would insist we play it as we hoisted her up and across into her "Thunderbird". Poor lady has passed now, but such fun and silly memories of this iconic music.

The music and the suspence always gives me the shivers. I will always like Thunderbirds :-)

A throwback to innocent times.

The music at 0:36 comes into my head whenever I'm in a plane that's about to land

I think Gerry Anderson was responsible for so many people's careers in aviation. This is why we wanted to smell the JetA1.
-
I'm 50 but this particular scene is still pure genius!
-
Gerry Anderson was a visionary. We will see his ideas come to life in the future.. Space X is the first start
-
Incredible, ahead of its time. Incredibly tense, edge-of-your seat type stuff.
-
I remember watching this on tv many years ago.
-
sounds like the brakes on my old corsa when approaching a roundabout.
-
I remember watching this when it aired, I was about 8...I was HOOKED....

I am reminded of a story of a engineer working on the set of Thunderbirds he was standing on a ladder when a man in a suite was standing there watching him and generally looking about, when the guy on the ladder said 'Excuse me can I help you' the man said 'Oh it's alright I work in another part of the studio my name is Barry and I am the man that writes the music. The guy on the ladder nearly fell off. WOW!
