Everyone loved the taste of new coke in blind tastes, but it was a very weird culture thing, where once people knew it was New Coke, they wanted nothing to do with it. There were boycotts, a whole movement, simply to protect a historic flavour people grew to love. From the company's perspective it was so bizarre as all during development it was overwhelmingly viewed as an improvement.
