Save 400g for $60: RideNow Ultralight TPU Innertubes. Are they any good?

A few years ago Tubilito added new life to the innertube when it launched it's iconic orange TPU tube. Since then many have followed suit including Schwalbe with the Aerothan and Pirelli with the Race Zero SmartTube. While these tubes all have a few advantages over traditional Butyl tubes the price has always been an obstacle.... until now.

Meet the RideNow Ultralight innertubes. Available in multiple sizes, widths and valve lengths they're a TPU innertube from China that won't break the bank. They're bright pink...which is obviously the greatest colour, but they're also light, fast and recyclable.

At 36g for the 700C Road bike varient (with a 65mm valve length) they're light, but most surprising is perhaps their compact size. They fit into the smallest of saddle bags or jersey pockets.

Being around 100g lighter than a traditional tube, they're an easy way to shave weight off your bike. If you have a traditional Butyl tube in each tire, and 2 spares in your saddle bag then spending $60 on 4x RideNow tubes will save you 400g - That's the weight difference between Ultegra and Dura-Ace.

Even if you're running tubeless; they're a great option to get home in an emergency if you have a tubeless failure out on the road.

They're available to buy from anywhere you'd usually buy your Chinese bike gear, or also on the Winspace website.

  • Please never say "no head, just hands, quick dirty little video" ever again.😂

I have just ridden them this weekend (31grams) and they have held air well (88psi Front / 95psi Rear). After a week on the wall hook, I measured their pressure (55psi front/58 psi rear). Considering the weeklong pressure degradation, I find them acceptable and afterall, we need to pump up the tyres before any ride so its all good for them. One thing I added was the teflon plumber tape around the air valve shank to prevent rattle around the rim hole like how I prepped for tubular tyres.

Jut received a 4-pack, got them for $45, so about the same price as Conti Race Lights, but about 30g lighter and a lot smaller. Was using <100g inners so far (Pirelli and Schwalbe) so the weight saving is more like 200g, not 400, but the volume saving in my saddle bag is impressive.

The testing video near the end was actually really cool

I'm running these tubes on 700x30c slicks and the only issue I had was one of the valves was leaky. I ended up putting a small amount of sealant to close up the leak. The tubes themselves were perfect and actually come in at less weight than the tubeless version of my tires!

I had them in 32c gp5000 tires which inflates to about 34mm for about 3 weeks. Light and, so far, reliable.

I'm riding them now! So far pressure is holding well. Weight is awesome - 35G on 50mm carbon with continental grand prix tyres.
  • So glad to see this review, was gonna ping you in discord, but went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 4 pack for under $40 with shipping to the US.

Got it for $10 each. Been riding with it over 500 miles. Not a single problem. The best weight saving for the money.
  • @MrLaddog
Been using these for about 3 months now. Love them! I have had no leaking issues and noticed the 400 gram weight savings immediately on my Hypers!
  • @WillPower46
Thanks for another cool video I just ordered 4, cheers.

I have bought 3 Ridenow tubes, 2 of them were good, 1 was leaking air out of box, It needs better QC. But over all, I am happy with this brand
  • Hi Joe, been using the Pirelli and Schwalbe for about a year. Several bikes, tires, and wheel combinations. All very good, I can’t tell the difference between latex and these as far as ride quality. They are superior in 2 important areas. First super easy to install, pop right in. Also if you do puncture they deflate much slower than either latex or butyl. So today I ordered the Ride Now. BTW I bought the Elves frame based on your video a couple years ago now on my second one. Thanks for your videos. Steve

Thank you for your fair reviews on these Chinese products. It's rare but very helpful.
  • @jakesteve5803
I'm heading off on a cross-state packing trip, and I'm starting off tubeless with a BIT of extra sealant, Stans darts, and bringing a pair of these as my backup.

Glad you done a review! I bought them on a whim without any research 😅

Last time I pinch flatted was 2006, hard hit to pothole. In June of this year, I installed Tubolito's with my GP5000's for the first time. On my 2nd ride, I pinch flatted after hitting a 2" rock with the rear wheel. I replaced the pinched tube with a new Tubolito on the road and it got me home. My fault....I said. So decide to keep riding them. A few days later, I decide to install a new rear tire. So I removed the old GP5000 and installed a new GP5000 (no tire levers used) with the Tubolito that was in the wheel. Later that evening I checked the pressure on the rear and it felt low, so I pumped it up some more. Next morning, soon as I got up prior to the group ride I checked again, and it was down to about 50 psi from 90. Changed it out for Conti butyl. I ride 8,000-10,000 miles a year and have for 20 years or so. I flat once every couple of years and am very proficient at changing tires and tubes, I also use Shimano tire talc for all my tubes/tires. I also have used Latex tubes for years on one set of wheels. So,....my experience, though short, was not confidence inspiring. So I am back to Conti Race Lites. A little heavier, but I feel better about them.

I I have 5 pairs of these in various bikes. 1000s of K’s covered with no issues. Apparently the patch kit is crap but I’ve not needed to use it yet ( touch wood ). They feel as fast as latex but don’t drop pressure as quickly and ride comfort is equally as good. Even if you buy one as a spare, they take up less than one 3rd the spare of a tightly rolled latex tube.
  • Rode these for the past month specifically with 650bx47 Pirelli Cinturato M tyres. Just finished a long week end bike packing trip that got some coarse gravel sections, no issue so far. Did not notice much of any air leakages certainly less than those light weight butyl tubes on my 32c tyre set.
