Im confused. I have always understood we (including Erasmus) do/did not have the original manuscripts to compare to. Also, the text Erasmus is comparing to wouldn't that have been the text the Catholic/Orthodox church was preserving for him to use for the many centuries prior to his comparing? If not the Catholic/Orthodox, who?

Please can you explain why the bible was ever in Greek and not latin, I mean Israel was under colonialisation even at the beginning of the church and i dont recall any Greek empire taking over after them from my poor memory of history as was taught.

It's funny that all the disciples spoke aramaic and the new testament was written in greek.
