Crazy that million dollar homes don’t have AC in the Bay Area. Oakland and Berkeley is no different.

I'm in the Pacific Northwest. We're accustomed to mild weather. In 2021 thought I was going to die. I have an air conditioner for the first time in my life. And if the county wasn't giving them to low income people I wouldn't. When I think about the people in tents...I'm afraid this summer will see a lot of deaths. Check on people, especially the elderly and disabled. We're going to need each other in the days to come, and not just because of heat. Stay safe people. Love from pdx 🌹
  • Wildlife has it a million times tougher than us pampered humans. Shade screen on the OUTSIDE of glass windows keeps windows from becoming magnifying glasses, 20 degrees cooler with shade cloth or something on OUTSIDE.
  • I use to live in ariund thst area. It was rareky over 80°. What they are experiencing isn't going away. If anything it will get hotter and hotter.
  • Reached 68 degrees today ,,Brutal,,I don't dare say where I live 😮, I'm from Las Vegas, and it took me a long long time to find this place with Perfect weather year round, good luck to everyone happy 4th
  • That First Lady - CLEAN YOUR HOUSE, GET MORE AIRFLOW… holy moly. Episode of hoarders right there.

I miss the spring we go from raining in the spring to heat.

Open your windows at night, let in the cool air. Shut the windows and pull the shades in the morning. This will keep the cooler air in the house for awhile until it heats up. Go to a cool place if you can to hang out for the afternoon and evening.
  • It might get to 118 where I live. Cant go outside for even 5 minutes. Just in case protecting the planet would help with heat, im 1000% on board.

Before moving to Central Cal in Tulare county (and we are expected to go upwards of ±110°F) i used to live in East Side San Jose by downtown over near McKinley elementary. Our house didnt come with an AC unit. Best way we beat the heat was either having the whole house's ceiling fans on or sleep on the floor.

You moved to a desert and are baffled that deserts get hot

Back in the 60s and 70 we had a/c but rarely ever needed to use it.

Buy ice and place in coolers and stick your feet in, kiddie pools for animals filled with ice water.
