Watch Daddy Lau teach us how to make chicken feet! While there are a lot of steps in the recipe, it’s worth it for that iconic dim sum taste.

If you're scared of getting splashed with hot oil when frying, you can use a oil splatter screen, like this one: amzn.to/43QZQzc

  • @floydlee3554
Your explanations as to why certain steps are required make your demonstrations so educational and transferable to other dishes! Great job!

When I was in college in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, I was obsessed with this bloody thing. Dim Sum in general is so good and I always buy at least 5 plates of it plus 2 portions of this chicken feet drenched in it's broth. I knew even then that this thing takes soooo much work to make because it's so tender and packed with strong herbal flavours. It has to be multi stage cooking dish and now i know it is. My neighbour at the time was this pregnant lady who lived in the next room. The rooms were divided by a thin wall made of some sort of fake wall material and anything with a strong smell will escape the room and linger around the whole house. Few hours later she knocked on my door and asked me what in the hell was that. She's a Malay lady and never had proper chinese food because it's not halal but she was having those pregnancy cravings and my dumbass ate these thing almost every day next to her without knowing the torture I was doing. So I told her what it is and she begged me to buy her some without telling her husband. Well, she was pregnant so I did the right thing. I buy it all the time for her and myself. It's dangerously addictive. Vacuum the flesh and chug the broth like a proper addict. I haven't had these for years now. I'm gonna find them Dim Sum shops and get it. I miss it like a dear friend. I love cooking but this is way too much work for one dish. Maybe I'll try it one day, for now nah, Imma buy it.

Besides cheung fun, this is a must have dish for me at dim sum although some people are repulsed by them. I decided to learn how to make this when our favorite dim sum restaurant closed during the pandemic. It is truly a labor of love and I was blown away by the many steps that it took to create it. Thank you, Daddy Lau, for showing us your version of this yumminess.
  • @shamapes
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Video was great and I really appreciate that you don't talk over/translate while your dad is talking. It helps me learn Cantonese better and from watching numerous videos already- I can say I don't really need the subtitles but is good to have when I don't understand a word. The Chinese subtitles are great too for my mom since her hearing is bad- she can follow along by reading the subtitles!! Chicken feet is one thing my dad did not get to show me how to make; he said it was too much work to do at home,
  • @maui4gil
I've been using an air fryer since I got one and it works great. No more mess with the splattering oil. I do coat my chicken feet with some honey since I don't boil them first. You may not have to coat them with honey using this recipe since he's added honey to the water. I definitely recommend the air fryer instead of oil.
  • @glennedwardgo
It's very comprehensive & he even explains the reason why he does the steps. Subscribed!
  • @PaulaBaza

  • @jayoppie3021
This is yummy! I used to dislike chicken feet but when I learned they're a good source of collagen I started to like them😂 I would boil soup with chicken feet and pork bones and it tastes so good. Definitely will try this recipe! Thanks Daddy Lau 😍
  • @mauimarcus
Incredible. I never knew this dish entailed so many steps. I could eat a LOT of these.
  • @richardl6188
Thank you for this video!! I've been looking to cook one of my favorite dim sum dishes for a long time! And thanks to baba Lau, my family thinks I'm a master Chinese Chef and think I cook as good or even better than the restaurants!!! 😀
  • @wiynwiyn
Thank you uncle Lau. I’ll be making this at home to save $$. It’s too expensive to eat out in Seattle. My favorite dim sum dish.
  • @ValTass14
Thank you for showing this process! I love chicken feet, a dim sum must for me.
  • @alvina_k
