US Troops Leave $100 Million Air Base in Niger | Vantage with Palki Sharma

US troops have withdrawn from the West African nation of Niger. On Monday, they handed over Air Base 201 to the Nigerien military. The US built this drone base at a cost of $100 Million. But Niger cancelled its defence pact with the US after the military took over the country last year. Niger is now partnering up with Russia to combat terrorists in the Sahel. Will the Russians move into the American-made air base in Niger?

Вооруженные Силы РФ благодарны американским налогоплательщикам за бесплатную военную базу. Спасибо ребята.

$100 million investment for an airbase with cutting-edge military assets, 10 years time commitment, yet they couldn't defeat terrorist insurgencies operating on motorcycles across the Sahel. It was a deceitful "partnership", and I'm glad the Nigerien leadership has the gull to call it out and diversify their security allies.

They don’t build those things out of their good hearts, it was a give and take situation and i believe deep down my heart they earned more than what they build or the services they rendered… these people will never do nothing with having their own interest put first…
  • For years African countries seek American, UK and French support when its comes to security and for years it hasn't worked. There was a few years back that one of the nato nation has been sponsoring boko haram in Nigeria but Nothing was done to that country. So if African countries have now decided to seek for Russian help then It's a Welcome development.

  • @ChildofD
Said many African nations are watching what Americans are doing with kenya and that alone will make America loose many allies in Africa.
