It's OK to have friends for over a year. I agree with the exclusive thing being silly. 40 years ago I would take someone on a picnic to a wildlife refuge or a park. I would go out with a group of friends dancing so we would be getting to know each other before we tried to date. Good luck and I hope you have wonderful experiences with life.
