The headphones I used are not in service anymore. I would recommend something that looks like these; this pair is probably suitable for pink noise listening:

The Tinnitus Retraining Therapy Book that I read, referenced and highly recommend:

High Fidelity Earplugs - these are re-usable, I've had pairs that last years, can be cleaned with mild soap and rubbing alchohol:

  • As a musician who is dealing with this for the first time, I find your story really encouraging. I'll give the pink noise a try. Thank you for putting this out there.

Thank you for your video it was truly amazing. I'm happy you got your life back in order. I'm 49 years old and I think I might have this condition. I noticed it started about two months ago. I went to a rock concert with my son. I actually did have ear so thought I was ok. Few days later I noticed my ears felt plugged and little hissing in my left ear. Didn't think nothing of it but has the weeks went on it never got better. Ears felt so full even driving around it was like I was in a plane with pressure and so on. I also noticed clanging of dishes would hurt sirens beeping of horns large groups even someone talking loud would hurt my ears. Went to see my doctor he said could possibly have eustachian tube disfunction. Now its November and seems like I can sort of tolerate a few things but can tell its still definitely there. Recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and starting with cpap machine because snoring is very loud. But still have yet to see ENT specialist. Doctor said snoring probably doesn't help either. So long story short I'm hoping to get better. Never heard of pink noise I will do whatever it takes because of course anxiety kicks in alot. Trying to stay positive your story really helped ❤️🙏 Rob!!!
  • This is appreciated. I wish I could seem to keep mine at bay. I constantly am surrounding my self with white noise, but as a single mom to a baby every time i feel like it's starting to not effect me so bad, or when I think I've fixed it, he'll reach a new screeching or squeeling faze where thats the most delightful thing to do and it starts the whole process over. But each time it's getting worse and worse. It's become so unbearable that any high pitches noices send me into an immediate aggressive panic. Even the cat meowing or the dog scratching or the baby swing just is too much. I had just gotten to the point where I didnt have to where ear plugs 24/7 or even mind the baby crying when it hit me again. Its back and worse now. I'd be careful of rerriggering it for sure! Be on the alert for any sensitivity because I'm not joking it is much worse the second time

Healed in 2014 after 5 years of Hyperacusis..Tinnitus and Misophonia. Just like Adam, I played in bands and played guitar, bass, keyboards, harmonica. I went to many loud venues and played loud music for years. After using TRT and my own forms of sound therapies, I am finally living a normal life again. It was the biggest challenge to defeat this. Giving up is the only thing I refused!. i wanted my life back.

The sound of your video makes more hyperacusis in my ear...other than that cool story. Good luck everybody.

Awesome vid brother. I developed the same condition (I guess) few months ago and it’s driving me nuts. I’m a very successful sales manager & I’m constantly on the phone (Bluetooth) on my left ear only. Now on my left ear I’m extremely sensitive to sound to the point that my brain rattles on deep sounds. Going to DR next week to see if I can have a brain CT Scan done to make sure everything is fine. I’m very worried man

Thank you so much for this story, I am 11 years old and have a very extreme case of this
  • @computermech
Thank you for the video. Respect. Hyperacusis does not happen by itself. I am a sufferer. It happens from several factors. Living near loud places like airports, power generation station or loud neighbors can cause this.
  • @SuperChexmixer
Great video Adam!!! Thank you for the share. I actually have severe hyperacusis and this video gives me hope. What headphones did you find helpful for the pink noise?
  • @casario2808
"make peace with myself and just start living my life"...I think that is the key
  • Adam thank you so much for sharing your story and making the video. It really means a lot. I think a short film about hyperacusis would be awesome and you should toats make it! Do you think the pink noice cd is more effective than an mp3 track? What made you pick those specific headphones?
