Deadpool was one of the best superhero movies of 2016, and it’s well known by now to be filled with tons of easter eggs. But beyond the obvious references to the Deadpool comics, Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are even more missable jokes that Ryan Reynolds and the film's creators hid in nearly every shot. Erik Voss is here with deep insight from repeat viewings of the movie, early drafts of the script, deleted scenes, and commentaries and interviews, to give you a complete breakdown of Deadpool. Which jokes were considered too offensive for the movie? How might Deadpool connect with the X-Men in future sequels? What other versions of the story existed before the final cut? And why was Deadpool so well received, while Suicide Squad was criticized?

Wade Wilson really portrayed Ryan Reynolds well.
-
Watching this all these years in the future it’s crazy to see the growth in the channel
-
I liked how deadpool went around killing henchmen asking for Francis and they all knew him as Ajax
-
i love when the studio budget was so limited that instead of teasing cable scene < deadpool just told us about it
-
What about the fact that Deadpool keeps asking for Francis but his whole crew knows him as Ajax...so he is killing people that have no idea what he is talking about?
-
My favourite line was when he holds up his broken hands and says, "Everybody fears the T-rex." I laughed for like five minutes, straight.
-
Eric you've grown SO MUCH as a performer it's a delight to behold.
-
Deadpool is easily my favorite super hero movie. I love what the "Disney" MCU did and I thought those were great movies, but Deadpool had a rather unique plot pattern, a very unique super hero, and comidic epicness that you just don't find in other super hero movies. Plus Ryan Reynolds is literally perfect for this role.
-
When you mentioned that Kevin Spacey's "character" was accused of being a little creepy ... OH BOY!!!!!
-
Who’s watching this during the Corona Virus Lockdown 4 years later...
-
The travel to exoctic lands, meet interesting people, and kill them, is also a reference to Full Metal Jacket.
-
I thought Deadpool's budget was 47 cents and a paperclip
-
The "Studio didnt have the budget for another x-man" joke works so well because DP is constantly breaking the fourth wall. The joke is not "unfair".
-
In Mexico El Cancer scenes got the biggest laugh in the theater.
-
The 127 Hours easter egg was forgotten. When he says "Ever see 127 Hours?" That is a reference to the movie (you guessed it) 127 Hours which is a true story about Aron Rolston whose got trapped while hiking. It ended with him having to amputate his own arm.
-
“I think shit just went sideways in the most colossal way” Shows figure of X-men Origins Deadpool. That one almost had me choking 🤣
-
If you cut the deadpool into two pieces would both of those pieces regenerate into 2 deadpools?
-
I love this video and I'll get to why later.
-
It's frightening how Erik isn't behind a blue screen
-
I've always liked Ryan Reynolds, so I was happy he got to play Deadpool in a better film.
